thanks
No special tools needed. You won't lose our memory settings. You will or may need to re-index your windows, no tool required for that.

According to the service manual, the battery monitor in the car needs to be re-calibrated. To do that, after you install the battery (and it does not have to be right away) you let the car sit for at least 4 hours off and undisturbed. This will happen while it sits overnight, so no action is really needed for it. Just put it in and drive if you want. When you are done for the day and shut it off it will calibrate overnight.

The battery is covered under the three year B2B warranty if that is still in effect.

I have a '23 too in Long Island with the original battery. I kept the tender on it during the blizzard for about 2 weeks. Since then, when driving, I notice sometimes the DIC reads 12.5 volts, other times it will jump to 14.5. I know the voltage reading can vary quite a bit and its not a good sign of a good or bad battery but I think im on borrowed time and I may need to just replace it.

You think that because of the voltage readings you cited?

What you are reading on DIC voltage display is charging voltage. Most of the time, when the battery as reached 80% state of charge (SOC) it will go into fuel economy mode - and the voltage will be 12.5-13.1 volts. However, in "Headlamp" mode it will be between 13.9-14.5V. Just after start up it will be 14.5V. It has a Battery Sulfation Mode periodically and this causes it to enter "Charge Mode" for 3 minutes, during which it can be between 13.9V and 15.5V. It will also enter the Charge Mode if the wipers are on, or if HVAC fan is on high. Like you said, the normal range is 12.5 to 15.5 volts and depends on a variety of factors. Bottom line is that you could easily see 12.5V and jumps to 14.5V and the system is perfectly normal.

I personally think the voltage reading is one of the most useless of the available info tiles, and I never display it.

well, I had my battery tender on it for most of the winter and I have a funny feeling it probably caused this battery to fail. It was so dead the last few days there’s no way you could jump it. I bought a new Optima battery put it in today and it’s only been one day but things look much better. It starts right up.
