Anyone know if the cats are actually the same as the SR? It would save GM money and make everyone's life easier.

Hopefully GM C8Z06 cars and cut-away cars will be in east coast auto shows and shown at dealerships. I’m a gear head live to see these new designs and reverse engineer new high performance systems. I wonder if GPF parts will be added to the oem catalytic converters. All recent Ferrari F8 tributes and Porsche GT4, GT3 cars all have cats and large ceramic filters made by Corning glass in upstate New York.

Cars are very quiet with multiple screens. The good news is that the largest HJS EMITEC German cats flow 93% of a straight pipe so that any car can get maximum power and clean emissions running with NO CEL lights. Sports car sound increases by 10 to 15% with quality large sports racing catalytic converters.

Are you on the Ciocca list from the wire transfers?

Good luck on this. When you stated this "the largest HJS EMITEC German cats flow 93% of a straight pipe so that any car can get maximum power and clean emissions running with NO CEL lights. Sports car sound increases by 10 to 15% with quality large sports racing catalytic converters." I am curious with such a focus by GM on "volumetric efficiency" and the amount of time they spent on the exhaust sound alone (lots of in depth videos on this by the engineers" I wonder how much better the flow is from the cats you are referring to vs. the GM stock z06 cats. In other words, what percentage do the stock cats flow at? Would be great to see you test the flow rate of the stock cats by way of comparison. Good luck and the use of titanium to reduce weight all throughout the exhaust system depending on total weight savings could be a good way to save some weight and possibly a lighter battery for those looking for max weight savings. I look forward to your posts on development. I am number 297 on MacMulkins list so guessing a year to 1 1/2 years out but fingers crossed... You should have lots available and tested by then....

Also get out there and DRIVE that beast and give us your impressions related to C7 Z06 (which I owned and did extensive HPDE days in) would love to note differences in ride quality on the street (if any) and different driving characteristics

I'd like to see
1) TI exhaust system
2) Brake track package
3) Lower seat rails for increased headroom

RE 2 and 3:

2. KNS brakes has confirmed an iron rotor replacement for the carbon brakes is already in development by Girodisc and others; around $3K

3. There is no room to lower the stock seat. Look under it... the motors/mechanisms are on the floor. AMT motorsports makes the best seat rail kit and I've used them in the last couple track/race cars I've done, but it's not something you're doing in a street car, they're for a racing seat.

We can definitely do that! I believe the factory cats are still around 800cpsi so the increase will still be fairly great. I'll talk to our R&D team and see what they can do to make that happen

In regards to your other comment, we will DEFINETLY get outside for a few test drives. Happy to report on my impressions, and being 6'4, I may be able to weigh in on the head room comment as well!

1) A Ti system is in the scope, will most likely produce our T304l system first as bending stainless on our mandrel bender is much quicker. That being said, I will make sure to keep you posted on that!

2) We are working with our good friends over at Girodisc on this, and we will absolutely have options available soon!

3) Being 6'4 I can commiserate with this, I will let you know my thoughts on OEM seat placement and take a look at the brackets to see if theirs any wiggle room

Joe Fab Fabspeed Motorsport USA ……..its going to be a busy productive December. Psyched for 2023 C8Z06 is an understatement.

1st baseline DYNO C8Z06 and sound test it stock .

For 670HP 8600RPM V8 engine - deploy 2 HJS German imported Emitec tri-metallic catalytic converters. We have very successfully used these stainless steel OBD2 European homologated EEC certified catalytic converters on McLaren 765LT, AMG GT Blackseries, Ferrari 812 Superfast and Ferrari 488 Pista . HJS cats are oversized for Z06 and will flow 90 to 93% flow of a straight pipe. Fabspeed is the USA North American importer for HJS Emissions systems. Past results should translate to Z06 with No Check Engine lights and enhanced sports car sound and Clean & Green power thats a direct replacement bolt-on for C8Z06 OEM 800 cell ceramic restrictive catalytic converters . Design and build a set of HJS CATS for Z06. Install sound test and redyno with stock Z06 valvetronic factory exhaust. Car should pick up another 25 to 30 horsepower and torque across the powerband like all other cars before with no Ecu tuning required. Since no-one can tune C8 Ecus HJS cats are a 1st step logical Autobahn proven durable performance upgrade!

Next:

3D Laser light scan under carriage of Z06. Remove undercar aero panels , 3D scan exhaust, remove catback scan underside body.
build CAD models with X pipe perform flow analysis for several designs. Design bend files for CNC mandrel bender bend tubes and Flow water jet fixtures simultaneously. Ive got 10 fabspeed team members on rotation working concurrently.

Create , build several systems with Helical limited UK electric exhaust valves for Plug into factory Z06 electric harness. No cheap lousy exhaust valves. Helical exhaust valves aerospace quality made in United Kingdom used by tier 1 oems Ferrari, McLaren, Lamborghini, Porsche, Pagani, Aston Martin, Gordon Murray t50. Never ever fail reliable electronic silica carbide exhaust valves imported from UK. Helical knows what we need and sent us pieces 6 months ago. We are prepared.

Sound test, dyno test and video. Make super lightweight non valvetronic RACE system too,. Run Fabspeed catback systems with stockZ06 cats and with HJS ultra high flow racing catalytic converters. Sound quality samples.

Much more to come. Anyone in Philadelphia PA email me joe@fabspeed.com perhaps you want to cruise over …….take a factory tour and check her out!

The most profitable thing you can do is to somehow develop a rear wing that mounts the same as the Z07 wing (preferably with even more downforce), as well as copying the front and underbody aero for the Z07 package, and sell all of the parts for $6-8K. The current Z07 package requirement to get the aero is ridiculous.

I'd like to hear the hi-flow cats with the stock exhaust.

I'm not too sure what reach you guys have to be able to pull off something real niche but, I'm betting that with the foreseeably limited modifications that will be available for this engine, most people who buy these will spend some time/money on the exhaust. I'm betting an Inconel header, with high flow cats and a titanium exhaust will sound absolutely mental on this car.

This is the third LT6 I’ve seen Mike Ward build. He also built SpeedPhenom’s and Stradman’s LT5s as well.

Mike Ward has to have the most non-signature signature of all the engine builders. I hope he builds mine lol
