C8 is not a light platform, as per previous generations and some competitors. The new Z06 is a ~3,700lb car, and an AWD Huracan is around the same weight. 911 GT3 is less than 3,200lbs. The weight is probably the biggest disappoint with the car for me. I wish it were 3,200lbs, but even a 3,500lb curb weight would have made it a much different (better!) car. Everything benefits from mass savings.
The weight of the LT6 being 2lbs more than a LT2 is both amazing and a little sad that they didn't make the rest of the car suitably light.
I respectfully disagree with the premise that less weight means automatically better car. A fully loaded AWD Huracan Spyder with all its NHV options is 3900. It is a good example of a European Grand Tourer.
A 992 GT3 is 3267. Tha big delta comes at a price for NHVs aka insulation deletes. The 992 GT3 ride harshness is at par with the 991 GT3RS which in turn is not that far from the ride of a CUP car with cabin noise, road roll and chassis frequencies worth max a 30 minute ride by oneself or five minute with the wife used to the family van or sporty SUV.
FYI, c7z is 200 lbs lighter than 3750. This is closer to zl1 1le weight than c7z weight.
Still going to be stupid fast but i don’t expect to see anyone heavily modding one for track duty except a handful of very wealth people or shop cars.
I’m all for a lighter car, but would like to see a cost of consumables comparison between a year of tracking with a 200lb passenger and w/o. I’d say the C8Z06 is pretty much in between the two as the auto ZLE I last competed with was over 4k lbs.
Zl1 1LE runs on 19" Supercar 3R tires which cost about $1700 a set of 4. C8 Z06/Z07 will run on 345/30/21 Sport Cup 2R's which might cost $1000 a tire if the price of a 325/30ZR21 Cup 2R at $900 each is any indication.
Shouldn't be there a thread started on the future C8 GT3? The C8.R started at 2780 pounds. Chassis is 80%+ as a Z06 and motor is 90%+ Z06
What does that tell us....?
^^^
It tells us that, much like manual transmissions, everyone talks a big game but when it comes to what they actually BUY, the internet hand wringing goes out the window. 85%+ of C8's are 2LT/3LT. If everyone wanted a "light weight" track car, the best selling C8 would be a 1LT COUPE with FE4 suspension and NO other options.

I don’t plan to run the 2R and plan on dropping to 19s if 18s don’t fit.
