Sounds like press cars starting to go out next week, car of the year testing in Sept, embargo timing is sometime in Oct. Not quite Summer, but 1.5-2 months away from real press info.
Emelia yesterday posted a story in IG when she was driving the Z06
So sad embargo after 2 months!
For some reason the idea of her getting special treatment from gm And getting a car early bothers me more than anyone else. I don’t really know why but her and that stradman moron are the two that annoy me most on YouTube. So gm giving her a nice early anniversary edition so she can castrate it immediately for With turbos or whatever wise she’s going to do due views? Great.
Why be upset? Her work to find the limits of the C8 was enough intrigue for GM to hold onto her car for a little while to see what was done. She was up on stage with numerous corvette team people including Tadge. Sounds like you may just be salty that a woman is invading your sausage club and pioneering the performance market for the corvette.
Stradman is free advertising to the next generation of corvette buyers. A lot of boomers and older won’t make it to the C9.
Salt bags aside, I find it wild that embargoes won’t end till people already order their cars, and for some, until they’ve already received their cars. It’s akin to how the build and price still isn’t out yet some orders have gone in.
October is such a late embargo date. I get that customers will just start receiving cars in October, but having reviews before customer cars start shipping would certainly be nice.
Looks like they gave her a 70th. It’s too bad they don’t allow you to get carbon fiber wheels with this package for those that want those. Otherwise I really like both of them, although prefer the white one.
Really odd to give her a car this early and then have such a long embargo. At least Road&Track, and I’m sure all the other traditional media outlets, will get their chance with the car a month from now and closer to the lift of the media embargo. Wonder if Chevy is going to use Emelia for short, teaser Z06 marketing videos until then. Also wonder if any other social media “influencers” have their hands on one yet?

I'm not the biggest Emelia fan either but it has nothing to do with the fact she's a female. Plenty of female youtubers who aren't obnoxious (take that1320chick for example). Infact the shame of it is theirs alot of really chill female car youtubers who don't get half the credit they deserve. I will admit what Emelia been able to do with her c8 for performance r&d is no doubt impressive, however most of their failures are self inflicted because they don't take the time to research anything they just blow it up and try again. As far as building cars goes this is kind of a **** poor way to go about it and not something the common person can do because its too expensive. The first time she blew it up with the Turbo setup was literally because she ripped on it with 93 when it was tuned on e85 and the shop specifically said... hey... dont do that...
I actually really use to enjoy her content before she got big, she's legitimately a hell of a driver/drifter and they use to build some really cool stuff. Now it seems like its more like a streetspeed717 (dont even get me started) hey look at all the money I have now type thing, like we're not afraid to blow it up because we'll just throw more money at the problem. The Mustang build with the big block Ford and huge blower was pure clickbait. They could have easily put a whipple and fuel system on that Coyote with the right suspension mods and had an 8-9 second capable car. Her dude that's always helping her is a Coyote guy, he knows that... The problem is that kind of **** doesn't get views. They constantly shoot themselves in the foot on the goals they set for themselves by taking the literal hardest path ever while they jump over 1000 more efficient ways. To me that part is frustrating.
I get that its a business but to me it also comes off as fake and contrived. Do I think GM is smart for putting a Z06 in her hands early, absolutely, ittl get views and ittl build hype with the younger crowd. That's what GM want's they want to take the Geriatric out of Corvette ownership and Emelia is good brand imaging for that. However, good content to me is the stuff thats not click-baity and it seems like the more famous she gets the more click-baity the content has become.

I don't think it's odd in this case at all. She doesn't really seem to know much about cars (based on her videos), isn't really a great driver (also based on her videos) so it's simply a marketing exercise to get the car out in front of her however many followers. I doubt anybody really cares what she has to say about the car.
If anyone should have a car first it should be Speed Phenom. At least the kid knows how to drive and knows what he's talking about.

Maybe, but I don't think the majority of her viewers can drive yet...

I don't think it is fair either that she is getting a Z06 first, and it has noting to do with being a woman. Her work to find limits is hilarious.. Didn't she blow up a C8 with twin turbos? lol..
Always love it when a woman chimes in, and wants to throw the you don't like her because she is a woman card.. Race and gender have nothing to do with this..

Lol upset? Not so much. I'm not losing sleep over it trust me. It's just that she brings absolutely nothing to the table imo. Pioneering corvette? please lol omg. You think the engineers at gm don't know what to expect when adding turbos to a base stingray or an lt6? Which is probably going to be the zr1? No more likely is she has a large audience just like the other fool in utah and they are capitalizing on cheap marketing. I don't blame them for it but it just annoys me because there are people here that have been waiting for years (normal people) not youtubers who should get the cars first. Not them. That is all.
Has nothing to do with the fact that she's a woman by the way. That is a foolish statement to assume when you don't know me at all.

There is more to marketing than selling someone a product today. It’s not like GM even needs help selling Z06’s right now.
But if her viewers or any other YouTubers are just teenagers, putting a Z06 in their hands to make videos is a decent enough way to expose younger people to Corvettes and get them interested. They are the potential buyers in the future. It’s a marketing exercise that’s costs GM nothing. It’s basically the modern day equivalent of listening to my dad talk about the Corvettes and Camaros he had before I was born. I for sure wasn’t buying one when I was 13, but hearing someone else’s experience planted that seed in my head that contributed to me wanting one someday.
