Got the call on the allocation yesterday. Went and gave them a deposit this morning. Never owned a corvette but I do have a 2017 Camaro 2ss that I am going to sell/trade.
Never been much of a speed guy, the Camaro is the first car that I've ever owned that has some horsepower...I'm really a Wrangler/Gladiator/CJ7/CJ8 guy and enjoy those in the summer months just cruising.
But the look of this car just spoke to me and I feel that this will be a collectable and possibly one of the last American muscle cars that come with the visceral goodness of the exhaust and the rumble of a big engine.
At 51, I guess I'm old school and I'm not a fan of anything electric when it comes to a sports car but that's just me.
I didn't go with the Z07 package or the ceramic breaks etc....for me those were more than what I would ever need and RI roads are god aweful so I just wanted a bit more "practicle" but with the look that I wanted.
Anyway, a few months from now I might be behind the wheel. I'm scared!! LOL
What makes you say that, I just ordered mine yesterday and my dealer said about 3 months time?
To be honest. I'm expecting about August time frame myself but rumors are that there is only one more round of ordering at the end of this month and that the plant wants to tool down in June sometime. So that would mean that the orders from end of May would finish around the middle to end of June I'm guessing. That sounds super progressive to me, but when I looked at the post from a stingray in 2022 when the plant was running like butter as seen below. Maybe it could be possible. The proof will be in the pudding when the TPW are given.
2022 Stingray build timeline:
9/21/2021 - 2000 Status
9/22/2021 - 3000 Status
9/23/2021 - 3300 Status
9/29/2021 - 3400 Status
10/11/2021 - Original TPW
10/8/2021 - 3800 Status (Built)
10/11/2021 - 4000 Status (released - available to ship)
10/13/2021 - 4200 status (shipped)
10/15/2021 - 5000 status (delivered to dealer)
Maybe the tool down would be to get ready for the ZR1 and 2025 production.
Anyway. Prepare for August/September. Anything earlier will be a bonus. If you go 3000 early next week like Monday/Tuesday and start following a trend close to above. Then you will know you are on a fast track to
But the look of this car just spoke to me and I feel that this will be a collectable and possibly one of the last American muscle cars that come with the visceral goodness of the exhaust and the rumble of a big engine.
Congratulations! Beautiful build. I will say this, your engine description doesn't quite line up and the experience is quite a bit different. Coming from a 6.2L CPC in the Camaro (pretty close to an LT2 in a SR) the LT6 has a completely different personality, it's not bad, but different. The LT6 is a bit of a small engine (it's only 333 Cu.In.) and it doesn't hit you in the back like a 2X4 with low end grunt. It pulls to the moon and it revs quickly, but that instant from the bottom pull isn't there. I'm not trying to dampen your spirits in any way, just have you adjust your expectations. Believe me, it's a beast, just not a 670HP 427 big block type of beast. Once you wring it by the neck, and get past 5,000RPM, the party is full on. Just an adjustment for most American drivers. Oh, and I too think it's the absolute end of an era and we are currently living in the time we can have one, not this that gets said in just a few years, "remember a few years ago when you could buy a LT6 C8, God I wish I would have bought one when I could have."
Also in addition. Here is a good read on production. One statement says that rumors were that end of production would be July 12th. So we know that its not possible if there is to be one more order at the end of the month.
In this article it also states that this is the last dates to get these colors. The latest being in Early August: • Amplify Orange – 6/27 • Accelerate Yellow – 7/11 • Silver Flare – 7/11 • Cacti – 7/25 • Carbon Flash – 8/1 • Ceramic Matrix Gray – 8/1 • Hypersonic Gray – 8/8
So no matter what. The intel is all over the place and inconsistent.
What isnt.... is that it will be a wild ride and in the end you will have a beautiful car.
I submitted my build to a Tasca dealership in IL last year and I submitted another build to a Tasca chevy dealership here in RI about 2 weeks ago. I got a call from both of them last Thursday that they got an allocation. I am friendly with one of the Tasca's in here in RI so that might have had something to do with it
Thank you! I think at this point whenever it comes it comes...in no rush. Be nice to get it before the winter sets in here and it goes in for its hibernation
Yeah I think i wasn't overly clear in my post.....for me, again the car just speaks to me...there is something about the look of the car that hits me in the feels.
But I know it doesn't sound like your typical American muscle car but one of the things that attracted me to this car is the possibility of it being the last of its kind.....big, pure, American muscle.
I may be wrong and maybe the ev aspect will regress and ICE will make a resurgence but I didn't want to let this opportunity pass by even though I'm really not a guy who is into sports cars. Anyone that knows me knows that I'm a huge Jeep guy and I have a bunch of old CJ's that I love to restore etc.
But something about this car peaks another side of me...aggressive, powerful and how I spec'd it....sinister LOL
