I would've asked to talk to the General Manager and explain to him that it is the responsibility of the dealership to insure there are no missing screws prior to delivery. Because of the parts department manager's response to this you will not bring your car for any service in the future and will leave the worst feedback on the GM's survey. Walk out and follow up on the threat.
To the OP: try another dealership.
Umm how can there be a a survey he didn’t buy his car there or have it serviced there. He’s just trying to get missing parts free.
I would be shocked if the GM doesn’t politely tell him to kick rocks too.
Welcome to COURTESY delivery. You had the dealership do all of your legwork for a minute fee they got zero credit for all the way around.
Now that you need help (not that it is a big deal) they told you to kick rocks- and I don’t blame them 6 out of the 7 dealers I worked for refused courtesy deliveries.
I don’t know why you or anyone is surprised. You are NOT THEIR CUSTOMER. They don’t give a rats *** what you paid or how much you paid somewhere else. They will tell you to have the other dealer to handle it.
I would be surprised if the parts guy knew if he bought the car there or not. But you are right, that there is less of a chance the dealer helps if he didn't purchase there.

I didn't do courtesy delivery. I had the car shipped to me. This dealer had absolutely nothing to do with my purchase or delivery. And to answer the other persons question, you're right, I could buy the screws no big deal, but it's sort of the principle of the whole thing. In the end I will likely just buy the screws.
While I totally agree that they should have been provided or installed at no cost, is it worth the hassle for $15?
Life is too short to make small injustices an issue.

Lol the story gets worse! So you didn’t even do a courtesy delivery there you just went to try to steal some hardware WTF!
Honestly, we all assumed it was the selling dealer that you took delivery from. Since it was just some Chevy store, I would not expect any parts department to just hand over free parts based on a story. That's not reasonable in the least. I know if I walked into a local Chevy dealer and told them I just bought a car (not from them) and asked for parts, they would tell me to shove off or get out my wallet.

I'm not sure I understand the sentiment given that it's a car that should be covered under warranty by any Chevrolet dealer. Missing parts should be part of the warranty. Anyway, I really don't care and don't feel like arguing about it.

I'm not arguing at all, but trying to make you understand that you went about it the wrong way and then blamed the dealer. Yes your car is under warranty, but you should have driven into the service drive and had a service writer do a ticket, they would have then had a tech get the screws and install them, all under warranty. That way the dealership has a ticket to submit to GM so they don't eat parts or labor.

I don't disagree, the first thing I did was go to the service center. They directed me to parts. I guess I should have driven my car into the Bay but whatever at this point.
A good business process would have been to gift the screws to the owner. This would likely spur good will and in turn future business.
Shortsighted business practices will only ensure a loss of repeat customers...
@OP don't listen to the harpies... you shouldn't have to jump through hoops at this price point. 2 fkn screws?....

Why don’t you gift him the screws? Come on man it’s Christmas.
How is this stealing? I'm not sure what your problem is with me, but I'm going to choose not to escalate.
1-Your entitlement is/was over the top but you can’t see it.
2-You walk in to a Chevy dealer you didn’t buy the car from looking for a handout to fix another dealers mess then you spout off about your 145k car. The parts who owes you nothing said to himself if he can afford 145k somewhere else he can afford $15 here don’t like it don’t let the door…..
I’m not going to escalate.

So people can just walk into a business and ask for free items and expect to get them? He paid for a car and got a car for the money, the sides are even at that point. The car comes with a warranty and GM honors it if done properly. Everyone seems all wrapped up in the dollar amount, but it's all relative. To a guy pushing a shopping cart with everything he owns and sleeping under an overpass, $25k for a car would be a lot of money.

Great point, OP should have been persistent with the service (not parts) dept. that this is a warranty claim. Would have taken less time than creating this thread.
Thanks for the link, I'm going to go ahead and order these screws so I'll have them when my Z is delivered. Might head off another emotional event and discussion like this!

A savvy and successful business owner would have gifted the screws to the z06 owner as a measure of good will, knowing it would promote future business.
It's hard for those who've never owned a business to understand.
