Default Missing screws

I was installing the acs rock guards in the rear and noticed the right side didn't have either t15 screw installed. The left side had both. At least it's not a critical part, but frustrating nonetheless.

Are we really going to come to an open car forum and complain because there are two 5cent screws missing from your car? I'll bet you didn't call the dealership or your salesman to complain about this terrible ordeal.

Dunno, I have giant Milwaukee tool box, full every kind of tools, screws, torque screws, nails etc.. Not really a big deal, so not sure why you are making it out to be

Carry on..

Might as well get ahead of everyone else and just throw some zipties up in there.

Yeah figured, but appreciate the response. When did this forum become full of know it alls that try to put everyone down. Also, my point isn't to complain about 2 cheap screws. I'm just concerned between this and my oil issue there aren't more issues.

My left rear brake duct and my right front under tray panel on my ERAY were missing screws. I noticed it when I installed the jack pucks. The car went in for an alignment that was deemed necessary under warranty and I told them screws in the brake duct, and front under tray. they replaced all the screws missing.

I know this isn't a big deal, but you'll get a kick out of this. I go to the dealer parts department and explain the situation about the 2 missing screws. They spend 15 min trying to find the screws and then tell me that I need to pay 15 dollars for them. I ask the guy shouldn't it be covered under warranty. He gets his manager. The guy says what's the problem. I explain the situation and he says yup, that'll be 15 dollars. I say you have to be kidding me. I just spent 145k on a brand new car that was missing screws and you're going to make me pay 15 dollars for them? He says I'm in the making money business not giving parts away business. I tell him, you can take those screws and shove them up your a**. I then walked out. I was so pissed. What kind of service is that and is this the way GM is going to retain it's most valuable customers? What a joke.

As I suspect you know, the Dealership is an independently owned business. The response you received is totally unacceptable, however, it is not GM that gave you this reply. I suspect that GM would be unhappy with the Dealers response, as are you (understandably).

Who is the Dealer, so that others would know what to expect if using the same? This would be a Dealer that I would want to avoid at all costs. As far as the screws are concerned they are available (in bulk) from Amazon and although I bought them in 2021 and can't find the order to further assist you, I know that the order that I placed for more than the number of screws I'll ever use, was LESS than the $15.00 your Dealer wanted to charge you. Sorry to hear about this shitty Dealer and their shortsighted behavior, however, it appears time to find a new and better Dealer. Good luck.

The fact that they/GM charge $15 for some basic screws is some serious price-gouging on top of all that.

Sounds more like he's in the business of filing bankruptcy paperwork than staying in business. I would have a closed door with the dealer owner/principal, I'm pretty sure he would have a different view.

I would talk to the service department or maybe your salesman about it. I don't think the parts department could do a warranty claim directly. Don't get me wrong, the guys attitude was **** poor and should have directed you to service.

^This. Parts knows nothing. Go to service and have them either install the screws or get them for you from the parts idiot.

When I needed 3 push pins for the grill on my C6Z, when I went to the local Dealer parts department (I did not buy the car there), they gave me a hand full of push pins, no charge. Not all dealers are like the OPs.

That said, I do usually check all the work the service department does and usually find something that is not completely right.

I would've asked to talk to the General Manager and explain to him that it is the responsibility of the dealership to insure there are no missing screws prior to delivery. Because of the parts department manager's response to this you will not bring your car for any service in the future and will leave the worst feedback on the GM's survey. Walk out and follow up on the threat.

To the OP: try another dealership.

Why don't you throw a couple of screws into a padded envelope, slap a stamp on it and send it to the OP!

Unfortunately I got my car from NH, and I went to the dealership down the road from me for the parts. They didn't sell me the car.

I agree, the first thing I did was go to service and he directed me to parts. Maybe I'll give them a call tomorrow and see if service can directly help me out. I'm sure the parts manager isn't too keen on seeing me after I told him where he could put his parts 😀

Welcome to COURTESY delivery. You had the dealership do all of your legwork for a minute fee they got zero credit for all the way around.
Now that you need help (not that it is a big deal) they told you to kick rocks- and I don’t blame them 6 out of the 7 dealers I worked for refused courtesy deliveries.
I don’t know why you or anyone is surprised. You are NOT THEIR CUSTOMER. They don’t give a rats *** what you paid or how much you paid somewhere else. They will tell you to have the other dealer to handle it.

While I totally agree that they should have been provided or installed at no cost, is it worth the hassle for $15?
Life is too short to make small injustices an issue.
