Any FI on this car will be turbos; way more efficient than PD. The reason previous generations (c6,C7) used PD was due to packaging requirements. Having a ME platform reduces/removes those constraints.
Agreed. And preferred by me.

I don't think a blower on top will fit under the HTC car. And maybe 40% will be convertibles?

So you're looking forward to spending AT LEAST $85k on a 3,700+ lb. car rated at 600/475, when you can get a GT500 rated at 760/625 at a starting MSRP of $70,300. If GM is actually this stupid, then you can have my spot at MacMulkin. Hell, you'd be better off with a low mile C7Z for $60k...But you better hurry because as soon as GM announces that 600/475 power plant the market value of existing C7Zs is going to skyrocket.

I am looking for a HTC. Can't get 675/ HP 650 Tq from a SBC? Cadillac does. I'll take the Blackwing in a Z....or the C7Z motor in it.

I want the low end torque that I will use everyday. Not the 9000 buzzy rpm in everyday driving.

But even with those numbers the C8 Z06 will be faster in a straightline and likely on the track, even against the GT500 with the track package. The regular GT500 weighs almost 4200lbs. It's a much heavier car and is traction limited. My guess is on a tight technical track Z06 would have no problem but on a track with longer straights the GT500 could have the advantage.

Regardless I don't think there are enough Corvette track buyers, and to your point many buyers are focused on specs. If the C8 Z06 makes less horsepower and torque and is heavier than the C7 Z06, it will open up countless debates and could push some people away from buying.

Wait, the comment you agreed with predicted the new Z engine would be NA. That is what I was commenting on. If you are predicting, or at least hoping for TT, then we are on the same page.

Maybe faster from a dig, but not from a roll where everything happens. And the GT500 came within 0.8 sec. of a 2019 C7Z (Z07) at Laguna Seca. There is no way a 3,700 lb car rated at 600/475 is going to get within 0.8 sec. of a 2019 (suspension was re calibrated and improved for 2019) Z06/Z07...Meaning the GT500 is a seriously legit track toy that no NA FPC is going to beat.

The problem I have with the GT500 is the weight, cost to track, and ridiculously small fuel tank for car that will get about 5mpg on the track. Speedphenom has some good videos about the gas issues on track. Constantly having to refuel. Ford should never have used the 16gal tank from the regular Mustang. I know my GT350 felt like I was constantly filling up, I can't imagine the GT500.

Exactly. Take a hellcat redeye charger or challenger and just a pulley/tune and your looking at 1000 hp. GT500 is close too. Yes it is heavy but you can haul 5 people. A 3600+ lb 600 hp car would get eaten alive from a roll race. Not on a race track but who cares if you get passed on your way home from the track from a cheaper car. I want my Z06 to beat my charger in a roll race.

Oh, I agree with all that, that's why I don't track my own cars. I'm more than happy to track someone else's car and to pay for the privilege.

Bingo bango.

Why does a lambo that weighs around the same as a stingray run a 10.4? That's insanely fast. That's with 630hp or so NA.

And people will say it's AWD. Well a C8 stingray can do 2.8 0-60 with RWD. So there's your traction.

Of course HP figures will sell but AGAIN, they have OTHER variants that will take care of the HP side of drawing an audience.

Is the z06 the next and last variant? Why are people set on this car having all the power for the least amount of money possible?

I'm crossing fingers on dat NA GOODDDDNNESSS!!!!!!

625hp is all it needs. Maybe GM might squeeze more HP but never know.

Either way, can't wait!!!!!!

Other variants cost alot more money which then makes a potential person think of other options as well. Also zr1/zora will usually be made in much lesser quantity. Why are you so against getting alot of car for the money? You make no sense.

Can GM build an NA FPC with 625+/525? Sure. Can they build 10k of them a year at $85k to $95 and warranty them for 60k miles. No way in hell. Lambo does NOT mass produce their FPC engine, and they charge $300k for their cars that see maybe 1k milles a year on average. At $300k a pop they can afford to replace a few engines. At $95k a pop GM cannot afford to replace literally thousands of engines. If you really believe your silliness, take my bets...I'm trying to give you $200!

GM does a lot of crazy things.

Ok so if NA, it'll produce 600hp exact. How's that look? Cool right?

Because at 495hp, the stingray has it's potential. It just needs A TINY bit of a diet and a bit more power and bam, track car!

It's not supposed to be a street slayer, that's the ZR1's duty this time around it looks like.

Again, we don't know. We're all playing the guessing game. Me, you, and everyone else.

This is fun!!! Crossing fingers on that NA GOODDDNESSS!!!!!!

I would say a ZR1 is at the end of the C8 generation which will be extended. Could be 2028 or 2029 before we see a ZR1, 850-1000 hp probably. Corvette needs a faster car than the stingray to compete. I would think they would reveal it this year but who knows. I know we won't be getting 500 lbs of weight reduction so I am pretty certain were looking at 700-750 hp for the Z06. It has to compete with current competitors, not a 458 from 10 years ago that they also tested with a base C7 stingray. A lot of disinformation going around to throw us bloodhounds off the scent but I doubt the 2 year old cad was designed 10 years before it would be available in a ZR1 so the cad is your Z06 engine. Besides it sounds better than a 488 but not a 458, it still sounds slightly muted to me. Could it be cats/mufflers? Yes. But it could also be small turbos. Down pipes and cat delete will solve that. Give me that flame shooting goooddnneess..

Makes sense but why test the C8 variant with a 458? Why not another ferrari? Or why even a ferrari at all? But they chose a 458? Think about it.

Again, WE DON'T KNOW. We are only guessing. If there was a concrete answer, none of these threads would exist. It'll be threads about, "are you excited to get your C8Z?"

Not, "so IF this, IF that, NA this, TT that" etc.

I still believe it's NA, probably more than a couple of months ago. The pieces of the puzzle are coming together. But again, i could be wrong. It's a 50/50 shot. NA or TT, hell could even be an LT4. We don't know.

Either or i can't wait for the reveal!!!

Been saying that since the beginning.

Why would i know? I don't work for GM. Nor does anyone on this forum (or maybe lol).

Can't be far off. It's either NA, or it's TT.

Not sure what's so hard to understand and i definitely don't know why everyone is getting upset. These threads are about discussing the WHAT IF'S is it not?

You say it's TT, 85k, 700hp+ right?

I say it's NA, 95k, and around 600-625hp.

They tested a 458 for a C7 stingray for handling purposes and the C8 stingray too. It may have even been the same 458 for all I know. But altitude tests and others were with a GT2RS. Maybe handle like a ferrari and perform like a gt2rs. That would be fine with me, but it may potentially look better than both

I don't know what it is. I just know they won't disappoint. You sure don't sound like you're guessing with your hundreds of posts all day, every day.

625hp starting at $95K would only sell to track rats like me (assuming I'd get a hardcore suspension with it) or people like you that want to rev the engine on the street and brag about having an NA FPC. That doesn't sound like a home run one bit. Maybe starting at $75K? That one might sell. That doesn't sound right either.

I've already given you a cost basis on how they could do TT for $85K. Twin turbo is not a big deal.

For some reason, the number 675HP seems the most likely to me.

Why would they use another 458 if they had already tested it with the C8 stingray?

The z06 version always had bigger brakes, bigger, wider tires, better suspension, aero. What is it about the 458 do they need it for for the next variant?

There are more than 1 camo'ed C8's out there. And that very first spy video of the acceleration sounded very very NA like. Very loud and ferrari like. You close your eyes, you hear ferrari.
