So i just got my vette 2 days ago and already i got pulled over today!
I just got the car and havnt had a chance to get a front licence plate braket so i didnt have a front plate on, but i had it displayed in my windsheild...
so the cop pulls me over and i told her that i just imported the vehicle 2 days ago and havnt got the plate braket yet and she replys with " ya you know how many times ive heard that?" lol
she ended up giving me a ticket for 110$ and said that shes giving me the ticket to insure that i do get the modification done...
and she even had the nerve to say " your gonna keep getting pullled over in this car just so you know"
i replied " bring it" lol and then said " happy cinco de mayo" lol
I got pulled over twice in the same week for no front plate, no tickets since the officers were reasonable, then I realised it's not worth the hassle, its just an excuse for them to pull you over, haven't been stopped since.
I have a stow and go front plate and usually keep it down but this year everywhere I seem to go a cop is always nearby. Not worth it. It's only a matter of time before I get busted.
I got nailed for this last April by a cop in Hamilton, Ontario who was just out acting like a douchenozzle.....went to court, even had pictures showing the plate clearly visible on the dash.....no dice.....$110....
You think they would pull someone over driving in Ontario with say...Alberta plates where they only issue one?
Ridiculous rule, makes the car look like crap....to hell with them, I'm still not putting the front plate on....it's not considered a moving violation so no points or insurance repercussions, I just consider it another part of the corvette tax!

The fact that you got nailed by a female cop says it all...the guys have always been more considerate.
I'd like to agree, but I can't. I got nabbed by a guy last fall ... total walking/talking "text book". No personality, didn't care to hear that the car was brand new and I hadn't mounted the plate yet (which really WAS in the trunk, ready to be mounted!)...
... anyway, I considered just paying the "Corvette tax" as required, but decided instead to actually mount the plate ... I really don't care for the hassle, and I've been lucky enough over the years for other issues ... better not push my luck for something so simple.
At least C5's have a nice (factory) location for the plate. I hate the stock location for the C6, so I made up my own bracket for it, and mounted it in the grill opening like many others do ... it's still an eye-sore, but more tolerable there than stuck on the "nose" of the car .
I know a sign guy that can make any sign.. i am sure he can make a replica of a ontario licence plate with my plate number on it.. andi can just stick it on somewhere .. i wonder if this would be passable.

This is legal in the UK - not here - wear a plate or just keep paying tickets - I think you had some beginner's bad luck - a lot of guys run without one and have not got tickets for years...
I got over this years ago, built myself a nice bracket and got on with life...

So this isn't a plate thing any longer. You're ok to put a vinyl plate anywhere on the front of your car (where your hood, ya that should look way better) yet you don't want to just use the regular plate.
This makes no sense, Just use the damn plate. It's a law, if you don't like it that's fine but if you don't follow it then don't whine when you get nailed. People startin to sound like they're prison bi#$es "I had to stab that guy in the throat, I don't know why I got charged though, damn POlice doin they jobs"
