Default Scratch X or 3M scratch remover question

Can either of these items be used directly on a car which has had 5-6 coats of Zaino?

Yes, Just remember that with these abrasive products you will be removing all the Zaino so after you should start from the beginning I don't know what the scratch X is. Is that one of those same color fillers? If thats the case you won't be removing anything

Ditto to what George said. I had some "problem" areas that popped out glaringly with Zaino and I ended up using 3M Swirl Remover followed with Imperial Hand Glaze. Contrary to the steadfast "dawn it" rules I just buffed out the area followed by Z1+Z2/Z6. Worked very well for me.

George: Scratch-X is Meguire's "new" scratch/swirl remover, comes in a black tube. Some folks have been less than impressed with it, I haven't used it though.

The Scratch X is a new Meguiars abrasive that comes in a tube like toothpaste and is sold at WalMart, I for the time being recommend the 3M Swirl Mark Remover part number 39009. Anytime you use a product that contains abrasives OR cleaners like as in a cleaner wax it will remove Zaino. If you put Zaino on top of a glaze product like 3M Imperial Hand Glaze, it will only be an illusion, the Zaino will never stick to the oils in the 3M. You must do as Sal says and wash the car down to bare paint with Dawn and put the Z-1 and 2/5 back on. We can not argue with Sal, after all he invented the product :D

I knew I shouldn't have mentioned that

It might be an illusion, but it sure is a good one - I've not been able to detect the slightest difference in the two areas (did I mention I'm a picky SOB?)
