Hey Pennman, that is one sharp C6. l love the two tone interior, have the same colors in my AO coupe.
I have owned black sports cars since I was a teen and I can tell you that no car looks better than black when it is clean and shinny.
I just got tired of the up-keep and decided it was time to try a different color.
Keep working your **** off on the finish and you will always be rewarded with the thumbs up seal of approval.

Thanks Steve MC,

I'm with ya about the black...tough to keep clean but awesome when it's clean. Thank goodness Zaino is pretty easy to work with! It's a labor of love anyway!

Hi all,
I am about to become a first time user of Zaino. I plan to place my first order this week. But I have one issue that I hope this forum can help me with.

I read their web site about the towels. They suggest 100% US Made Cotton, (Fieldcrest or Cannon). On the LAZAINO.com site, they also recommend Martex. I have looked in Bed Bath and Beyond, Linens & Things, even Macy's and nowhere can I find those towels.

What do you all suggest regarding the right towels to use for washing and waxing?

My car is about a week old and I plan to give it its first Zaino treatment (wash and wax) next weekend.

Thanks for your help.

I don't know if Zaino gets a kick back from Fieldcrest and Cannon, but one thing I can tell you is cotton leaves lint and dust on your car. Yes it is very soft and will not harm the surface but a good microfiber towel will do just as well without leaving a trail of dust behind. I use microfiber wash mitts and microfiber towels for everything else including engine and interior detailing.
Whatever you decide to use, good luck with your first application and remember don't use too much. One ounce or less should do your entire car. I don't think you will be disappointed with the results.

That's why AIO was created, so you don't have to go through the Z5 and Z2 process. Yeah, maybe you get slightly better results with more products, but "lacking serious protection?" I hope you were kidding.

You are right, I was thinking ZPC when I responded, sorry.
I would still follow up with Z5P or Z2P, but the ZAIO does offer protection, just not the same shine and results.

Its so hard to know what towel to use. On my other cars, I never gave it a second thought. Since I read about the issue of towels on the zaino site, I started to get nervous. Also on the lazaino site, they actually sell Martex towels. I see that at my local pepboys, they sell microfiber towels and I was about to buy them. But when I read on the zaino site they actually say the in their FAQ:

Q: Are Micro-Fiber products safe to use?

A: Zaino has been testing various Micro-Fiber products. Unfortunately, the jury is still out on them. Some of them are excellent and do not scratch. Others are terrible and definitely scratch. The quality control of these products from overseas, especially Korea, is not consistent, so you never know if they will be the same scratch-free quality. Even when using the same brand, we found the quality to be inconsistent. For now, we do not recommend using them. However, lab testing is ongoing, and we will post an update when we have more conclusive results.

NOTE: If you are already using microfiber towels, look carefully at your paint finish under flourescent light when you are using your towels. If you are not getting any swirls or fine scratches from the microfiber towels, then you are okay and can continue to use them. Remember it's better to be safe than swirly.

I just emailed Sal to ask more details. The possibility of getting fine scratches on my new baby freaks me out.
Thanks,
Steve

That isn't great, but if you are buying microfibers at pep boys or Walmart, I would worry.

I only use cobra.

http://www.autogeek.net/mictow.html

They are probably more expensive than you might want, but the do hold up well.
I also use the Microfiber rejevinator for washing.

No worries, Steve. But I also wouldn't use ZPC on a brand new car!

I've used good quality mf towels while using Zaino and haven't had any problems. I've been using them for well over a year now.

I'm sure it's impossible for Zaino or any manufacture to test every MF product out there. So they tested some good quality cotton towels and they know they work well so they SUGGEST to use those brands. Do you have to, NO... As the saying goes, results may vary... Use what works for you and don't worry about it.

It's funny, people read a suggestion as it's gospel. I can't tell you how many times I've seen people post that Zaino says you have to use Dawn everytime you wash your car. Of course you get the other people responding with "Dawn will ruin your car". Word of mouth or internet isn't always a good thing. Zaino says you can use Dawn for a ONE time wash to help remove the previous wax. Will it hurt your car using it once, not hardly.

I couln't agree with you more. When I received my car from the dealer I found some light swirls and scratches on some surfaces. I used the Zaino Z5 with a cotton applicator then buffed with microfiber towels then applied Z6. Result; Swirls and scratches became harder to see under florecent light. I think after a couple more treatments swirls will practicly disappear. Don't even want to know what the dealer used.
