I wonder how thick most factory clear coats are though?
Actually, factory cc thickness doesn't matter as much as how much cc factory allows to be removed before integrity of cc becomes compromised, and that varies from one manufacturer to other.
Very nice thread. Your car looks alot flatter. An additional alternative *could* be to go even further sanding down the surface and respray clear only over it. I know of a shop that recently did this to a black C5 and applied Ceramic clear and it came out beautiful. You'd still have to resand afterwards, but nothing heavy.
Brian - thanks for posting the link. The Mirka system looks very nice. The one pic of the remaining "pigtales" was very interesting. I was under the impression that the 3M system is more forgiving. I'm a big fan of final sanding as fine as possible.

thought about that, but this was a budget modification that I did. with a newborn, the money is a little tighter than in the past.
Well the 60hes was well spent the car looks great. When my babies were new I had more time than money also. Now they are older. I have plenty of time and the older daughters do well disposing of my disposable income.
Best of health to the wife and baby. I hope they are feeling better by now.
