Car: black Jetta hood. Not factory finish is at was replaced in June due to an accident. Last time I polished this car, I think I went Nano on gray pad to Micro on gray pad but again, this is not the same surface since it was painted by a local shop, not the factory clear coat.
My daughter had my son's car last night and someone st a drink cup on the hood, which was mildly dirty and "slid" it while picking it up, leaving these marks. They are not deep but are very noticable.
I know its not easy to see. I did a quick wipe with QD and its scratched. I've got a PC, Menz Micro and 106FF (nano) and a gray and a white pad (plus non-abrasive wax pads).
Because the hood is new, its in good shape and doesn't need polishing. I'm looking for suggestions as to what I should do. I'm an amateur but have done a few cars. I'm hoping I've already got what it takes to fix this....
You can always try what you have, but I can't imagine it will work.
I would say orange pad and SIP would be what you will need, then on to your other products.
you could try Nano with the slightly more abrasive white pad to see if it will help remove the marks. Might need to step up to more abrasive polish also like SIP or the new 203 version.
nano actually is rated as a final polish due to its gloss rating. It doesnt usually need a FP following. SIP will in most cases finish down quite well, but we suggest using Nano and the FP to truly gem the surface.
With PC suggestion is SIP/Orange Pad, SIP/White Pad, Nano/Grey pad
