How do you eliminate "gasoline smell" from the interior
I picked up gas for the lawn mower the other day & the relief vent flap opened while the container was in the car. It was in the covered compartment of a C5.
It soaked the carpet in that section. I pulled the carpet up and propped it open while it aired.
What's the best way to get rid of the odor? I've had a fan on it for several days & it's a lot better, but it isn't gone. I've used Fabreze, but that doesn't last. I know it will go away over time, but I'd like to speed up the proocess.
Any help will be appreciated.

You can take it to a detail shop that has an extractor. Other than that you can try odor removal sprays, but they only last so long before needed to be re-sprayed. I know shops around here(Buffalo, NY) only charge around $15.00 for this service, so it might be a good idea to try.

Put a box of baking soda in your car near the area or on top. Get the one with the flow through. (nylon stocking) so that it cannot spill. This should do it. Good luck

~One man’s opinion / observations ~
Gasoline smell is very difficult to get rid of, I would recommended that you use an extractor on the carpets, and clean the seats and headliner, air dry the car with all windows open. If the smell persists sprinkle baking soda over the carpet and seats, and leave it there for a few days and vacuum and re-apply it.
~Hope this helps~

Thanks for the suggestions. Before trying to find an extractor, I ended up shampooing the carpet twice with Glory carpet cleaner and vacuuming with a shop vac. Glory has a built-in deodorizer. It eliminated the odor.

I'm glad you found something that worked for you, I've tried similar products and they just 'mask' the odour.
