Default Can I fit two 315/30/18 tires in the back hatch of a C5 coupe?

Does anyone know if I can fit two wheels and tires (315/30/18) in the back hatch of a C5 coupe and still close the hatch? Someone must have tried this before.

I don't think so.. I couldn't fit them in a C4.. A lot of guys are putting 1 in the rear, and the other in the passengers seat (If your not bringing anyone)

The storage/hatch area of the C5 (coupe) is bigger than that of a C4 but I believe the same thing still applies, I don't think both of those big tires will fit back there.
It might work if you slide the passenger seat all the way forward and then also fold the passenger seat forward with the 2nd tire leaning right up against it but I still don't think so.

I can see not reading the whole thread, but you would think someone would at least read the first post.

I have NT01 315/30/18 on the back of my C5 Z06 and they fit fine under the fender, but bulge a little on the stock z06 rim. I think 305 would be perfect, but they don't make the NT01 in that size.

I've had a pair of 275/40r17 in the back of my C4, but had to slide both the driver's and passenger's seat forward to the point where it was uncomfortable even for a short guy like me (5'8"). But I sure got some looks on the interstate with tires and a helmet stacked in the back window. Tried it with 315/35r17 and couldn't get the hatch to close.

A friend of mine had a little bracket he liked to use to let air flow through the back hatch (instead of letting it act like a parachute) when he drove his 94 with the top off. It mounted to the "loop" on the hatch and engaged the hook on the trunk latch to leave about a 2 inch gap between the glass and the body for air flow. I bet with that bracket, the wider tires would have fit. Maybe they make one for your car too?

Don't be such a "Chicken Sh**" and drive down on the front skinnies. ... Ralph, Chris, & myself did it for years...

Not sure but I think Sheila did it also....
