2014 Corvette Challenge
As with all businesses in these trying times, many changes need to be made to existing programs. One change at Raceway Park is to consolidate race classes. The GM EFI Series became the Modern Muscle Bracket. The MMB includes all makes and models running an EFI system.
The RP website, www.racewaypark.com, will be updated with any and all news as it becomes available.

Sometime in February the sponsors will be contacted by RP.
Thanks Michelle
I started this series running the 11.50 index and when my motor blew folks asked me what next? I wanted to run the 10.50 index in what I thought were the best series and racers I could afford to be in and because I was running against similar cars I feel we all made each other better. To me it wasn't about the winning the $$$ but to practice/learn and eventually get better and someday I might make it to the winners circle. now that my car will actually run the index, it stops.
Running an index race once a year (at what would otherwise be considered a rental) isn't really the seat time I am looking for but would probably attend, running the car for the reason it was built.p.s.
Thank you to all who are trying to bring the CC back.

Rob, you didn't answer Jay's questions. So, I will try and you can correct me: It seems there will be a Corvette Challenge (CC) Bracket series on some Saturdays in 2014 yet the track would like more sponsors and you all are trying to get that for them. There will be no CC index classes; nothing more and nothing less. Once a bit more cash is raised perhaps the CC payouts and dates (plus how many events) will be shared. Maybe this will also include what the points champion and runner-up will receive as well... Is that correct?
I've seen a few jokes in here as well as a lot of: "We do this all for you and if you don't like it - leave, this is all on our time and our dime." Yet, I have not seen anyone show disrespect for the coordinators or claim they are getting some type of compensation for their efforts. In fact, I have seen the opposite with many positive acknowledgements to the original coordinators, past title sponsor and those who are trying to work-out the kinks at present. Given that, you rant on with the audacity to call people names (some are funny such as "Cheese Eater") yet ask others to show some respect? Come on man, I said it, there it is, someone had to and, as the saying goes: People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
I once did my part in an attempt to promote a series at the track. I met the same struggles as you and worked with many racers to tweak rules, payouts, etc., in attempt to raise car count. While I did the Marketing, Web Site, IT, etc., Doug gathered up the sponsors to provide us with some higher payouts. Yet, as he indicated, what they got for their money didn't win him any awards.
Throughout that endeavor we did not go on multi-post rants, expecting people to change who they are or respect us for anything we did: Respect is earned, not commanded. And, it applies to the business (track) just as much as those who try to work with them to offer a series for fellow enthusiasts.
Don't put all your eggs in one basket or build your car hoping for one series. I don't know of a person who built their car to run in the CC Bracket and nothing else. Most enjoy the CC for the friendships. Yet, reading this thread, I may start to worry if I'll make friends or be standing tall before the man.
Drag racers are good people no matter what or where the series or event may be (P.S. If one track pays more in taxes for their property, that's their problem, not mine - They are the business, I am the customer). Any track will go out of business if they don't offer something for the masses (and we're out there).
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/drag...challenge.html attached to it. This is disturbing. I guess I am not showing all my cards, pointing my finger and so on. You would not take this as a slap in the face?
Moving on, I have read this thread a few times to see if there was anything I may have missed. It appears everything is still the same. Raceway Park has been and will be searching for sponsors as they have been. The problem they have come across in the past is the number question: How many events and when are the dates. For the track to approach a potential sponsor without the dates would more then likely loose the deal.
What I wrote about people moving on, go away...... more so to keep the thread on subject and not to get side track as most threads do. As you read the thread, look at who has been responding most on the thread.
The track and the coordinators welcome constructive criticism on how to improve the series. Going 88mph and all the other stuff is not needed. I look at it as if someone were interested in participating in the CC. If they came across this thread, they would run away. I have two other people read this and give me there feedback on this. Some of the words they said I can type, but they said the thread needed to get back down to earth.
From what I see on the points sign up and from what I am told, there will only be a Corvette Challenge Bracket Series. All sponsor money will go to brackets.
I am not expecting people to change, I am old enough to know that people are who they are. I did drive to businesses to promote the Corvette Challenge Series searching for sponsors. I did not work from home. I am not trying to strong arm anyone and I feel my RANT was well deserved in my eyes. Maybe people do not see or understand the whole picture.

What are you referring to on the top of the sign up form?
"RP PERMANENT NUMBERS ARE FREE IF SIGNING UP FOR POINTS BY DEADLINE"
What statement? I wrote a lot.
The classes can change at anytime. I have seen classes developed during the season.
I think it safe for me to say without contacting the track for me to answer the question that the events are not finalized for 2014.
If a specialty class has a low car count (ex. CC 11.50, 10.00, 10.50...) Why would you not consolidate the classes with low car count with another similar class? Having a Corvette racing in a 11.50 index that may have a Mustang. This is what the track is doing to keep the concept alive.
I hear that some people do not like to race against another vehicle if it is not the same ET as them. (no picture on the right for someone scratching their head) There is no advantage or disadvantage to racing a slower vehicle or a quicker vehicle. Yes, there are pros and cons. Another topic.
I brought this up because it was brought to my attention by a few racers. I try to understand and relate to everything with an open mind. If you go to the bracket finals, what will you do? Request to only race another Corvette? <--- Joking
I was upset to see the GM series stop, but it was replaced with the Modern Muscle. Not trying to open up a can of worms, but explain how the track is trying to keep the type of racing alive.
I spoke to a few people from the series and some great ideas came up. I hope to speak to someone at the track soon.

With an open Heads Up class I think the most $$ would win.. If I take a 2nd mortgage out on my home, for $100,000 I would enter

If you want a better explanation just call m and I may need to borrow some meds.

I misunderstood the post about it being an "Index" class i.e. 11.50 or 11.00 etc.. then I WOULD enter it as with my new motor I "should" be able to run 11.0 in ANY weather... Sorry for the error in my reading the original post...

i might race in it, who knows, but all the explanations you are giving me would be fine, the early sign up is for a cc race not a any car race, why not just call it a bracket or index race, i hope it works out for the racers to have a great timeThe Saturday guys WANT the opportunity to race HEADS UP!
A middle ground 11.50 Index, there would be a slew of cars.
Can you imagine if they had a $500 to win 11.50 Index race?
No transbrakes or 2 steps..
Every car in the place would enter!
