Default First time back in a while

Went racing in grocery getter at Atco this weekend. I bought a silver 2006 convertible in the fall and have wanted to see what it could do. For those who may remember me I still have my 68, but it’s in pieces and I needed something to scratch the itch so enter the 06.

I went with the hope that I could get the car in the 12s. Believe they run 13s from factory and this has after market mufflers and intake so….

They were running a 700 pro tree. Two time trails ran 13.3 and 13.06, and on both runs I took the rpm’s to high on the first to second on first run and on the third to fourth on the second run. Did I mention it’s a manual? So I was pretty pleased with the 13.06
and figured it’s definitely capable of getitng in the 12s.

I dial 13.1 for race and line up against a dodge dialed 14.85, I cut an .019 light , couldn’t catch him as he broke out by more then 3 tenths, I didn’t lift and ran 12.872 so I got my 12…. Proably shoudl
have lifted as I should have seen I wasn’t gonna catch him, rusty for sure, but glad I didn’t… so now I ran under the 13 I had to verify that they would let me continue as I wasn’t sure if that would be a hard limit.

next round I dial 13 even, lined up against a dial of 14.27 , I cut a .024 light and take the win with a 13.061 on the breaks.

The .024 got me a bye run next run where I went red with a -.069 and ran 12.967

And onto the fourth round, I dial a 13.00 again against a pickup dialed 17.45… I went red again and ran it out the back door 12.97.

A little disappointed to end the day with a red, but overall a great day, went a few rounds and got in the 12s, best MPH was 112.06. And my son ran my 2017 mustang and won his first ever round by red light with a best of 14.75.

Good story and you had a good day for sure.
I think I remember you from the old Corvette Challenge races at Etown. Is that right?

Congrats and welcome back to racing! I saw you driving thru the pits, as I was there getting the chassis cert done on my C5.

I hope to see you out there again in the near future.

Sounds like a good day.
Our cars are almost twins, mine is an '07 but an automatic, I've never been good at rowing gears.
I'm itching to get back to the track. Just had an ECS supercharger installed so my budget is busted for this year but next year getting a 5 pt bar and set of drag radials and I'll be back like Arnold.

How's it going BK?

Thanks, same to you I'm glad you're still making passes. I sold the '78, just didn't fit what I wanted since they closed Etown.
Hopefully I'll get to chat w you in person sometime soon.

So while were at it.... my C6 does have a wobbly Harmonic balancer and seems to be getting worse. Does anyone have a recomendation for a repair shop around middletown NJ? I have historically relied on my father as a mechanic but looks like ill have to pay soemone this time.

ECS can do it for you. I'm in Hazlet and I brought the car down to them.

Yes, thank you. I actually spoke to them and they should be taking it in a couple weeks as they're bogged down at the moment preparing for a race.
