This is an interesting topic for the drag racing section. Does this mean that your crew chief could tune your engine during a run? I just finished watching an episode of "This Old House" on PBS. They featured a wireless system they claimed had NO degradation is speed. No brand name was given.
Between delay boxes, timers, trans brakes, throttle stops, limiters, and all the rest, I knew the time was coming. We can now race our cars, sitting in the bleachers. Good luck, and...
LOL, too funny.
No I could not get tuned at the track, yet. Until the track becomes a "hotspot"
El I expected slow performance too but am quite surprised by the performance here at the hotel. It is quicker than my previous hotel which was wired. Must be the networking hardware.
Now that I have half of the system I get the other for home to give it a try, not for speed but for freedom to roam.
DSL at home with a wireless set-up so Julie and I can have a posting war at the same time.........me on the PC, her on her laptop. Works
We take her laptop on the road, it has the wireless card
Re: Anyone using wireless internet? (ALLTHROTTLE&NOBOTTLE)
Edgar,
I have my house wired with Cat-5 and I added a Linksys 802.11G-WAP (P/N WAP54G) for my laptop. The wireless connection is FAST and the speeds are usually around 36.0 to 54.0 Mbps (depending on distance). Most of the time it is at 48 - 54 Mbps. Also, I have a dual band card in my laptop. It will work on 802.11 A, B, and G.
Brian
802.11 B wireless is 11 meg newer G is 54 at best but doesn't get as good of a range from my experience. (but is worth purchasing for the small additional fee as long as your card supports it) Granted fast ethernet wired, at 100meg is faster but you shouldn't notice the difference since your internet connection isn't anywhere near even 10meg. Edgar as far as hotels wireless or wired connections go you will find huge variances depending on tehir backbone and also usage at the time, I used to frequent an Embassy Suites that had a nice wireless setup 10 bucks for 24hours of access. Could sit in the lobby and watch the games, or bar or room etc. :seeya
Lostsoul,
What kind of range are you getting with G vs. B?
I installed a G WAP because the range is supposed to be same as B, but with faster speeds (54Mbps). Also, A is supposed to be as fast as G except for shorter range. See Link: http://www.linksys.com/edu/wirelessstandards.asp
