Block check
Looking to get the same casting for my '91 Corvette (L98). Its a California smog law that I have to use the same year or newer. And since that will mean converting to LTx or LSx, I would rather stick with the '91 block. Anyone have the casting number for the 1991 L98 block? Thanks.

I cannot imagine that 1991, 350 engines have a unique casting number. I'm sure any 1986-up, L98 (and other 350s, too) would have the same cast number. Besides the BLOCK has nothing to do with the smog equipment or compliance of any of the parts bolted to to it. Does California really check casting numbers? I'll bet $100.00, if you take any year block, correct casing number or not, and bolt all your stock L98 parts on it, they'll never even guess that the block wasn't born in 1991.

No problem. I just so happen to have my oem 87 block and an 89 vette block in the garage. Both have the same casting number. The 95 truck block and the 89 truck blocks I have also share that number. Looks to be quite common.

According to Sallee Chevrolet, the block is only rated for 350HP...
