The two most important numbers are missing and should be a sure find. On the bell housing flange to the right of the distributor is the casting number. There, you should find the entire number 14093638. Behind the disdributor and perhaps to the passengers side on this flange should be a cast date code. An alpha charactor and then two or three numbers. This will look like "B127" or "F60". The letter represents the month where "A" is January "B" is Fenruary, etc. The right most number is the last number of the year and the middle number (s) are the day of the month. So In our examples above B127 Would mean February 12, 1987. The code F60 would be June 6, 1990. I think this block was used from 1987 thru 1991 and the cast date code would nail down the year. If you can determine if there is a letter in front of the "0613UXP" That is where the assembly plant code would be. For example, "T" for Tonawanda, New York, "V" for Flint, Michigan and others.
Thanks,... Big help :D
Found a cast "F070 on a boss on the dri side-top bell housing.
June 7, 1990 (Doubt it is a 2000.)
I'll guess the stamped build date of "0613" is the machined date?
I kept looking at the 0613UXP # for a beginning letter,... none detected. I need to buff it off w/ some abrasive to see if something is hiding.
Also found cast on the bell housing-top "57LG" & "5GF".
Still looking for the full 8 digit #.
Rumor has it, it came out of truck. (So the U comment above sounds right!)
Trucks used the same L98 block the Vette's got!? When did trucks get fuel injection?
