Default Top ring???

I am about to order a set of Keith Black hypereutectic pistons with 10.2:1 Compression, i was going to get the 11:1 Lt1 oem replacement pistons because that is what my car had from the factory, but i have been told that 11 to 1 is too much? But anyways my question is about the top ring, there is one with a 1/16'' Top Ring and a 5/64''Top Ring. which one should i order and what is the difference. By the way anybody have anything to sat about Keith Blacks

Racing pistons have the smaller 1/16th for less friction. The down side is how long they last. The real big choice is what are the rings made out of. Because that determines break in time and for how many miles before you get blow by. What environment they operate in is also a determining factor. Dust or not so frequent oil changes will scuff the cylinder walls with certian types of metal rings.

I used prefit rings on my last two motors which were the Plasma Moly. I would talk to KB about you application. They are great pistons.

I think KB's are great pistons. I ditto the 1/16 vs 5/64 comments above. Due to some unique thermal properties fo the KB pistons, the top ring gap needs to be wider than with just about any other piston. DO NOT ignore their instructions.
