Valve spring requirements
Spring requirments for Summit cam sum-k1102 cam.
Specs are
Advertised duration I:262 E:272
0.050 I:204 E:214
lift I:420 E:442
I ordered one of these cams which showed up today, so far im very pleased with it. The spring requirements section of the cam card is blank. Im considering the edelbrock performer sure seat springs due to the price and because the cam i ordered is a near clone of the edelbrock performer cam, and these springs are designed for it.
I'll also be adding a set of 1.6 rockers which will give me a 0.470 exhaust lift.
From what i worked out the springs have an installed height of 1.700" and a bind of 1.130" giving a 0.570 lift, and taking 0.06 off for safety im good for 0.510. Im I correct in my statement?
Any advice would be great! Thanks.
How about checking the specs from Comp, Lunati, Crane, etc., until you find what the cam really is and then see what is recommended.
Otherwise you're probably OK with your stock springs if the mileage is reasonable. That's not the biggest cam in the world.

You are correct in both your spring selection, and your method of determining the lift the springs are capable of.

Will the performer springs (PN EDL-5802) be ok for my setup? From what i worked out the springs have an installed height of 1.700" and a bind of 1.130" giving a 0.570 lift, and taking 0.06 off for safety im good for 0.510. Im I correct in my statement? Any advice would be great! Thanks.
Stiffer springs will prevent valve float and they are not really any additional load on the cam. Always run a good chain.
