523 hp @ 6000 rpm. Horsepower starts nosing over at 6500. (About where you'd experience valve float).
Very strong engine. I assumed a 750 carb and pocket ported oval port heads. Through mufflers, you don't drop that much either:
515 lb-ft @ 4500, 495 hp @ 5500. So you pick up some top end by uncorking it.
This is a really stout street engine that has some weekend talent at the dragstrip!
The cam says that its good between 1200-6000..,this summer is going to be a blast.
My M20 could be in serious trouble thou, with that tourqe in the lower Rpms.
What do you think?
Just watch the dumping of the clutch. If you do too many violent launches and make a habit of it, or speed shift, then you could find the Muncie's weakness.
The bad thing about the aluminum case Muncies was the lack of stiffness in the housing, allowing the helical gears to be pushed out under great torque. (Out as in along the direction of the shaft). This could cause gear damage. The M22 had almost a straight cut to the gears, greatly decreasing end loading.
So if it's a sound Muncie, and you drive it somewhat logically, it'll probably live about as well as anything.
