Hello just ordered dd2000 was wondering if there any tricks to useing? I have been told its fairly accurate. I'am relly curious as to what my setup is for hp and torque. :D
Dyno2000 is "faily accurate". I would really call it "optimistic", but not all that far off. I have simulated stuff like a 327/350 and come within 10-20 on the peak numbers, but I have not seen full curves for the engines I have compared against.
The program is very simple, and there really are no tricks, other than finding Cam and Head flow files. Did you buy it with the Cam files?
I think it's fairly accurate on top end power, but less so on low end torque. It assumes perfect fuel atomization and mixture distribution, but a big cam and carburetor are often far off this mark. so be careful and view the low end numbers, which are very important for a street engine, with a grain of salt.
Also, realize that it basically simulates SAE gross power, except where you select mufflers, but the exhaust restriction is very modest, so "installed power" - essentially SAE net is going to be less when you factor in a real street exhaust system, accessories, fan, and underhood air temp.
Be sure to read the manual and keep in mind the limitations of the program. Cam characterization is critical to accuracy, and I think one of the major limitation is not allowing the used to input actual lift-crank angle data.
Thanks for your reply. This fourm is a very helpful tool in trying to gather information. I'am hoping the it will be close(dd2000) i don't have alot of experience in modifying small blocks so this looked like a good tool to try as well as reading as much infomation on small blocks on how to get the most out of them. Thanks Again John

As far as using DD2000 to compare different parts, cams, heads, etc., I think it's a pretty good tool. I have probably plugged in 20 different cams trying to find one I liked. For comparisons, it is great (i.e. Cam "A" has a flatter hp curve than cam "B", but cam "C" has a higher RPM torque peak than Cam "A").
Of course, I'm not going to go around saying I have a 400 hp, 450 ft/lb engine b/c DD2000 says I do. I will wait to have it dynoed before I start bragging.
Thank you for the links i'am sure the will be helpful. I ordered thru summit and didn't know that there were cam files also avaliable. I ordered and wanted it shipped overnite and recieved a confirmation today saying they sent it ground :mad i wanted it for the weekend. This has happened with me useing summit before guess i'll use jegs next time. Thanks John
I have Desktop Dyno 2000 also and have filled in everything except the heads section. I can not find my heads on there. IS there a flow file some where I can get. I have a Big Block Chevy with a set of Dart Pro-1 heads 2.25/1.88 325cc runners. Any ideas?
