BiZ,
Can you see the date code on the bellhousing flange near the top left side of the block? The 3858180 was used in pass. cars from 64-67, trucks 64-67, 67 camaros, and 65 vette. The date code will help you narrow this down. As for the HCR code, this should have been only 2 letters if it were the origional code for 64-67. These codes were hand stamped, and this could have been a engine that was used/installed by a dealer who could have stamped this or even stamped by an engine shop after the block was decked? This is just a couple of possabilities.
The 462 heads, what is the complete casting #? I've got these #'sfor you to check out,
3767462=62-67 327 passenger(not 2.02)
3890462=66-68 327 passenger/camaro/nova/chevelle-4bc,Q-Jet,275hp. also 67 327 corvette-300, 350hp.(not 2.02) These were also used on 1967 302 camaro-Z-28 HI PERF and some were equiped with 2.02 valves.
3891462=62-67 327 truck(light duty), 64-67 passenger,standard perf.(not 2.02)
If the heads are factory 2.02's they will have screw-in studs and guide plates. These were only available(supposedly) on the 67 302/Z-28! If they are these, I'd give $100.00 for 'em!:lol: :lol: Anyways, all you have to do is pull a valve cover and look for the screw-in studs and guid plates. Keep in mind, somebody could have modified them and installed 2.02's without adding the screw-in studs/guide plates! Hope this helps. :cheers:
