i'm puttin together a 350 for use in a little datsun 240, so torque isn't a huge consideration (i think it weights 2800 pounds). what do you guys think of this idea?

CompC. Magnum 12-705-8 mechanical roller with 300/300, 255 at .050
lsa 110 i think

afr 195's.
victer jr. manifold.
this is sort of a rough sketch but ideas are welcome/

C'mon now there's bigger cams than that

Seriously you have to match components to make power. That cam along with race ready AFR 210's and 400 or more cubes with at least 1 3/4 in. exhaust would be a good setup.

That cam would work well with a 400. For a 350 street motor even with no concern about torque, I would go no bigger than 230 @.050.

However, I have always gone with the philosphy of "one size smaller" than you think you need. After all, how much are you going to drive above 4000 rpm? I coluld have gone 222/230 @.050 on mine but instead dropped to 214/222 and it runs like a beast.

Also, BTW after gkull's experience with Comp and mine, I would definitely go with a different manufacturer. Just my $.02 .

okay, so maybe i should do a smaller cam, thats too bad i was looking foward to that idle
the thing is the car is so light that i was purposely thinking of killing torque if possible to keep it from going all over the place, maybe i could run taller gears instead.

do you think a mechanical roller is a good choice for this scenario?
