What are the correct bolt markings and type of finish for 67 intake manifold?. My early 67 has black phosphate with "m" marking? NCRS Judging manual reads "A", "NAT", "URL" or "FP" and black phos. Where can I purchase the correct bolts.
If it were me, I would go slow on changing the bolts to a different headstamp just because the judging manual doesn't mention the headstamp on your bolts. Errors and omissions are found in the judging manuals. What is the history on the car? Has it been restored?
The "M" headstamp was used on later cars, and may also have been used on the midyears. About the only way the bolts would have been changed is if the car has been restored and the restorer was trying to "pretty up" the intake after the engine was rebuilt. The "M" headstamp bolts are most likely GM supplied bolts, which indicates to me that they are either (1) original or (2) replaced in a restoration.
You will need a midyear restorer to tell you if the black phosphate is correct for your manifold. If the black phosphate is not correct, then the bolts probably have been changed by a well-intentioned "restorer".
9t6t7, the very old intake bolts on my '67 manifold also had a "M" with a circle around it and three hash marks. I looked through all the catalogs, looking for the other head markings, but couldn't find them.
Long Island Corvette Supply is usually pretty good about selling you the correct bolts, and they offered the same bolt with the "M", so I got a set of those, until I can find a set of one of the others. :D
