Can anyone explain to me the difference in the paint scheme between the '69-'73 and the '74-'76 stingray emblem. Also I know the older ones have mounting studs, did the "74-'76? And does the current GM issue? I see that Paragon has both styles, but there is no picture of the earlier version to compare. Thanks!
Been a while here but the two emblems are differant in that the script is not exactly the same and the tangs on the early ones are longer than the newer ones.. the newer ones are only 1/4" or so long and are not pointed like the earlier ones were. These emblems do not interchange with each other so make sure you get the correct one...as the guide holes in your fender will not line up. As for paint scheme... not sure where your going with that.. the face is chrome and the rest is semi gloss black.. there is also a differance with the dot in - on the 'i' as well but I cant remember what that is exactly
There is a difference in the paint scheme. On both versions there was a step in the casting that 'shadows' the script.
On the early ones, from there back where it mounts to the car is the only surface painted black, the rest of the script is left chrome. Unfortunately, the ealy one in RonD's picture is worn and has lost all of its paint.
On the later ones, only the leading edge of the corvette script is chrome. The rest is blacked out as in RonD's 'later' pic.
