Illinois State Rifle Association
WEATHER PUTS DAMPER ON IGOLD - BUT MESSAGE TO LEGISLATURE WAS LOUD AND CLEAR- WE ARE NOT GOING AWAY!
Lousy winter weather took its toll on attendance at the 2014 IGOLD event held in Springfield on March 5th. Frigid temperatures and blizzard-like conditions notwithstanding, more than 2,500 lawful gun owners braved the weather to let legislators know that they will not accept a toughening of the recently enacted concealed carry law and that they certainly will not accept any legislative proposals to ban, tax or register firearms.
The day began with an informational session at the Prairie Capitol Convention Center where attendees were briefed by ISRA Executive Director Richard Pearson and NRA Contract Lobbyist Todd Vandermyde. Representatives from Illinois Carry and Guns Save Lives were also on hand to impart important information.
With this being an election year, those on hand had the opportunity to hear from 3 of the 4 Republican Gubernatorial Primary candidates. Bill Brady, Kirk Dillard, and Dan Rutherford all described key planks in their platforms and affirmed that they all support the right of law-abiding citizens to possess and use firearms of their choice.
Following the convention center segment, those in attendance took the traditional march to the Capitol's Lincoln Steps for more words of encouragement from Richard Pearson. From there, those in attendance fanned out into the Capitol to meet with their legislators to remind them that we are not going away and that legislators are expected to preserve and protect all of our Constitutional rights - not just those popular with the political elite.
The day's events ended with a close-out rally in the Capitol rotunda where attendees were encouraged to continue the fight for our rights 365 days per year.
Media treatment of IGOLD was surprisingly even handed with most outlets reporting the facts - saying merely that gun owners went to Springfield to lobby legislators on key issues.
Conspicuously absent were representatives of the state's gun control movement who had promised to be there to counter IGOLD.
In short, the event was a success and plans are already in the works for the 2015 edition of IGOLD.

Looks like I am in the clear b/c the threat was caught and stopped by 3:00 am on Jan 5. and I applied at 2:00 pm on January 5. I think this is overblown and won't be a big deal.
Here is great recent Video and Article on how only law enforcement officers have proper training to handle handguns. NOT!

I'm packing my Glock 27 subpcompact 40 caliber right now in my front jean pocket as I type I LOVE IT, and this is my third day in a row with that GREAT CCW piece. I also have a Glock Model 20 in 10 mm as one of my primary home defense pieces, the most powerful Glock made and in a compact size. With proper pocket holster and nothing else in that pocket its very safe. The pocket holster covers the trigger 100% and serves as a trigger guard (a pocket holster with any pocket gun, external safety or not, IS A MUST)!
You just can't put your finger on that trigger until you are ready to fire and have to be super **** smart and safe carrying a Glock. This will be one of several of my primary care pieces, you can't beat the reliability, accuracy, and firepower, 10 + 1 in .40 caliber small enough to conceal in the front pocket of my jeans.

I have one and put 1000's of rounds down range and never had one issue. Easy to clean! Light weight and very simple to use.

TROY, Mo. (AP) - When a man in a Chucky mask robbed the Peoples Bank & Trust in Troy, Mo., he surely wasn't expecting the bank president to turn into Dirty Harry.
But authorities say that's what happened Tuesday when Donald Ray Lee tried to make off with $5,000 he stole from the bank. Lee, 58, left the bank with the money he had demanded but was followed outside by the bank's president, David Thompson, who drew a Colt .380 and kept Lee at bay along with another armed bank official until police arrived, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported ( http://bit.ly/VdNtbN ).
Lee remained in jail Thursday on $50,000 cash-only bond and did not have an attorney listed as representing him.
Thompson is a member of the National Rifle Association and supporter of concealed-carry laws, and a warning on the bank's front door reads: "Management recognizes the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution as an unalienable right of all citizens."
Thompson said he didn't have time during the robbery to get scared.
"I was excited," he said. "Your adrenaline pumps. He robbed a bank, he menaced my employees, and I don't allow that."
Thompson has been overwhelmed with calls supporting his actions. Co-workers thanked him. Even the local priest stopped by the bank to tell Thompson he did a good job.
Jerry Sage, executive director of the Missouri Independent Banking Association, said there was no protocol for bankers regarding the use of firearms. Thompson is a past president of the association.
"We stress in our safety training that safety is the most important thing. He took it outside the bank so no one was in jeopardy. If he pulls a gun and he has a permit, that would certainly be his call," Sage said. "It was a gutsy call."
Troy Police Chief Jeff Taylor didn't second-guess Thompson's actions but said he typically advises that people avoid confronting suspected criminals.
"In general, I would suggest they lock that door, get a good description of the robber and call police immediately," Taylor said.
According to Thompson, Lee entered the bank shortly before its 3 p.m. closing time wearing a mask of Chucky from the "Child's Play" horror movies. After ignoring two bank workers' requests to remove the mask, he responded to a teller's demand, "No, you gotta give me all your money," and then put his hand in his coat pocket to indicate he had a gun.
Thompson told the paper that his receptionist buzzed him in his office to warn of the emergency, and he looked out and saw what was happening in the lobby. He followed the man outside, watched him get into a pickup truck parked in a handicapped spot and then pulled his gun and pointed it at the man.
"Sir, get out of the truck," Thompson said. "You're not going anywhere."
Thompson said that when the man put his hand in his coat pocket, as if he had a weapon, he said, "You don't want to go there. This will end badly."
After getting backup from a colleague, Thompson said he pulled the man from the truck and waited for police. When officers pulled off the mask and opened the man's wallet, Thompson said he saw a debit card from Peoples Bank and realized that the man was a customer. Lee had been banking there since April, Thompson said.
Police say Lee told them he'd gone to the bank only to trick or treat.
