Ok, I can't imagine why some hacker(s) would want to attack this server. The only thing that comes to mind if this is a case of financial espionage, if I spelled that right...why else or what would they have to gain by messing with us? Hopefully the Internet Brands service or whatever they are called, don't pay them if that's what's going on. It would be nice to hear from the the site administrator as to what's going on (details) and if there is anything we can do to help?
JMO but when you consider that IB is in the web site business, they should be better prepared than most to deal with these issues. Remember the trouble they had after purchasing CF and LS1Tech?
I was just thinking that with the numerous members of this forum, we have a lot of talent that might be useful in assisting the the owners of this site. Our talent is widely diversified and so on, but many have skill-sets that might be of use in handling this issue.
It appears at this time that something is affecting the forum. I started getting long delays and a few time outs when trying to use the forum. Started at about 11am my time!
This is not a complaint, just posting so that the powers that be can be aware of it!
Looks like the server is under attack again - exactly the same problems we had the other day started again this morning.
I'm getting it again too. Tried to go from the C6 General forum to Off Topic and my browser timed out waiting for it. Couple of minutes later and I was able to go directly to Off Topic with my desktop short cut, but it took about 20-25 seconds instead of the usual 8-10 seconds.
Also takes about twice as long to leave a thread and go back to the main page of thread titles.
Early on Thursday last week (PST) our websites encountered an attack, one which is often referred to as a “DDOS” (distributed denial-of-service) attack.
While our network is setup to handle very substantial traffic (it deals with over 50 million visitors each month), as has been seen by other large internet sites (Twitter, Facebook, Google et. al.) such a large scale attack will cause connection difficulties. In this we were no different, and it wasn’t until sometime on the weekend where we were able to implement a successful resolution to the issue.
As part of the implementation of the resolution you may have encountered some issues with the site and its functionality, we are working through each of those items, and if you come across an issue, if you could please post it here in the help forum to ensure that we have seen it, it would be appreciated.
We have been (and continue to) work around the clock until all the issues are resolved, our apologizes for the inconvenience.
Thanks,
Adrian – Internet Brands.
