My head hurts...
One of our daughters will be home for Christmas, we call her "Jennifer at Tech Support" simply because she's so much better at computer work. I'll put her on the job.

It is very simple and takes only a minute or so. Protects your computer from a lot of other evil also. I only gave links to those two sites because anyone who would accept the simple advice of "download this and move it to this folder" from a random internet posting deserves all the evil they get. I prefer to give pointers and let you figure out for yourself what the solution is rather than demand that you trust me. 
BTW, maybe someone read this thread because the speed suddenly increased dramatically here. Pages now load in a few seconds vs. the few minutes it was sometimes taking. No changes at all on this end.
