Default Internet Explorer version

Folks,
Just wondering which version of IE this site needs to work best. We have a computer at work with Windows XP and IE 7 which used to easily access this site. Now it takes several minutes for this site to come up and navigating the site is impossible. I was going to blame the company for somehow restricting access but I thought I'd ask about the IE version here first. Also I can't access eBay there either but most other sites, no problem.
Thanks , Dave

I'm using IE9 and this site is very slow compared to everywhere else. It's been that way for a long time and TPTB don't seem to care. I just click on something here and then go to another tab and do something else for a few minutes and then I can come back and see what I clicked on.

I am running XP Home Edition and Internet Explorer 8 and I am having no issues with speed. What type of connect do you have?

I use Windows 7 with IE 9 on a 'hot rod' computer with a moderately fast DSL connection. Generally speaking, I don't have any problems with the website loading slowly.

For the past few days, however, the title bar on all the posts shows only a "red X Default" instead of the usual. Apparently, others are experiencing the same problem so I know it's not just me....it's a website problem.

I am also seeing that, but I have been using Firefox most of the time and not IE so I was not sure if I need to look into my settings or not.

For the love of god get IE7 off that machine now!!! Regardless of the fact it won't work properly with many sites these days, it has massive security holes and exploits.

More than likely the reason you're having internet upheaval is because the machine is infected.

Start by upgrading to IE9, or the latest editions of Firefox, Chrome or Safari. Then run a security sweep on the machine for spamware, malware, viruses etc.

My experience is that IE9 is slower than Firefox when on Corvetteforum.

I am using Firefox. The site ads server hangs up and slows down page loading.

Windows 8 & FFox. No serious problems, but slower than my XP machine with FFox. Probably not enough power in my PC.

Two questions:

How do I tell which version of IE is in use on my computer?

How do I block the long column of ads on the left side of the page, which seems to slow my downloads?

For the IE version number, while in IE, click on "help" in the tool bar at top and then click on "About Internet Explorer".

Sorry, can't help with the ads

For IE, the newer the version, the better.

The latest IE you can run on XP is 8.

It's the 35 billion scripts that load when you load any page on this site.
