Rest in peace, Noland. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

I barely knew Noland if you can call it that. I had seen him talk at a couple of Corvette events and that was about it. Then while trying to get a copy of his 1953-1962 Restoration Guide about 15 years ago or so, I heard that he was selling them directly. I emailed him and he just went on like I was his best friend about the book. He sent that one, and it was so nice being so new, that my 1963-1967 looked off. And it was a much earlier edition. He told me that a lot had been added to the newer one, and it wasn't just because he was selling it, but it was well worth getting the newer one.

Somewhere in all the emails, the Corvette Black Book was mentioned and he said something about Michael Antonick, but Noland was a victim of auto-correct, and his name became "Michael Antiknock" in the email. I asked if that was some inside joke or some rivalry that wasn't well known or what.

Noland was completely shaken, so upset that he may have offended someone, and assured me that it was some mistake and that he and Michael were good friends. The emotion and worry Noland expressed over the possibility he had offended someone was very genuine. I was quite impress at his concern.

Like many, I'm sure, I was on Noland's email joke list for quite some time.

The world has lost a very good man. He is gone far too soon. RIP

A couple of my favorite Noland pics - from Noland's personal collection.

Noland in (actually, on) his 1953 Corvette circa 1976 at an NCRS meeting at the Claremont Hotel near Berkeley.

Noland listening intently to every single word uttered by Zora.

Met Noland at Bloomington Gold where SACE (now SACC) had a display. He autographed his book for me and we talked quite a while. I had told him my car was "rough" and he said to just enjoy it. That's the way he signed the book. Very nice guy. RIP and condolences to his family.

So sad to hear this news
Though I didn't know him well, I knew him well enough that every time we met it was like "where have you been my friend". He was a fun and informative to be around. My funniest Nolan story is that every time we would see each other, the first words out of his mouth would be, "hey, where's my wife" referring to my lovely bride. He always made sure that she felt as much a part of the conversation as I. My wife and I will miss him greatly. May he RIP and prayers to his loved ones.

Noland was a very cool knowledgeable guy who shared with everyone.
I had the pleasure of organizing a roast of him at a 2007 SACC National Convention at St Charles, Il. It was a humbling experience. I was lucky enough to get John Z as the master of ceremonies.
Noland Rest in Peace old friend.

I met Noland when I was 15 at a Corvette Dealer in Fremont CA around 1994 or 95. My dad purchased a survivor 64 Coupe from this dealer and Noland probably gave my dad the best advice ever about his new purchase. He told my dad "do not restore this car, just clean it". I'm sure that little bit of advice saved my dad thousands of dollars in restoration costs. Rest in peace Noland

Rest in Peace, Mr Adams. Purchased The Complete Corvette Restoration and Technical Guide-Volume 2 a few months ago. Read it cover to cover. Recently purchased my first mid year (1966 Mosport Coupe). Cannot say enough about the expansive knowledge and help his book contains.
