Default Hello

I wrote one of these earlier, but apparently it didn't take, as I don't find it now.

Edit: It was pointed out to me that I hadn't made it clear that my original post was in the Introduction forum, my apologies for being vague and thank you Vette DD for bringing it to my attention.

So here's take 2.

Hello, my name is Erik.

I've come here as I started searching for information on the newer Corvettes and this forum showed prominently in multiple internet searches.

My interest has been piqued in Corvettes as my mother has expressed an interest in buying a well cared for used, newer, Corvette.

I mention newer as dad and mom met years ago when they were racing Corvettes.

Their last was a hotted up 1969 L82, that I helped dad restore after it was retired from racing in 1977.

Hence my need to learn, and learn I have.

I'll continue reading, and after exhausting that resource, and the search feature, I'm sure I'll have questions.

As I've already mentioned it, my current raceabout is a 1931 Model A 2 Door Sedan Hot Rod / Street Rod with a fairly hot 331 CI Small Block Ford (425 ish HP ), 5 speed, IFS, 4 wheel discs and chrome reverse smoothies wrapped in radials on both ends.

I tag along, by invitation, with the local Corvette group from time to time, they think it a blast it keeps up so well.

As for those that ask why, with a Chevy background I have a Ford hot rod, I'll give you the same answer I give anybody, Chevy didn't make a Model A.

I look forward to my research here, as this look like a good group.

Now, as I mentioned my current focus of research is for mom's new hooptie, so it might be handy if I mentioned what she's looking for.

I appreciate any advice you may have.

Currently she would like a Bright Red (Torch red ish) non metallic base engine coupe with shiny wheels (polished/nickel/chrome) a non black interior and an automatic.

He price range puts her in the C6 generation, or the earliest C7s.

But she's attending a corvette function this Saturday and I expect her to try some on, as several members of the local Corvette Association have recommended that anyone looking to buy a Corvette should try different generations on to see what fits; seems like sound advice.

As for interior, she would like tan, beige, red or possibly Kalahari, but I don't know yet how old that option is (may not have been available in an old enough model, we'll see what becomes available).

For those that are willing to comment, please, what one feature would you have gotten in the C6 / early C7 range, after you got one, if you had known before?

Belated update:

Mom tried a few different 'Vetts for size, she seems to like the C7 better, for now.

I'll be focusing on the 2014 for both price range and still having the A6.

So, at least for now, Red, coupe, both roofs, 1LT; interior in tan, red, beige or Kalahari.

Welcome to the forum.

Your best avenue for getting some help on advice or your Mom's next Corvette will be to visit the C6 and C7 sections of the forum and seek their recommendations. Good luck on finding just the right car for her.

Welcome to the Forum, Erik!
I currently drive a C5, so I won't be of any help with the features I would have preferred in a C6/C7.
I believe your mom is on the right course with attending the Corvette function this weekend (and perhaps some others). This should give her a chance to really get an appreciation for the different features (standard and optional) of the cars.
Best wishes in her search.

I appreciate the effort though. Thank you.

Although, with your experience in this forum, if you could tell me why the "thanks" button seems to only show up about half the time, I would appreciate that, as it seems to only appear at random.

Is there a setting I need to change on my end?

Is there anything you know of in the C6/C7 families that you might want?

Any advice is welcome.

After this weekend I had planned to post in one of the generational specific forums, but until then the question still seems too vague to me.

I figure I owe it to anyone that might answer to come up with the best question, or questions I can.

I've now noticed that while I sometimes (but not always) find a "Thanks" button at the bottom of each post, I don't see them here in the introduction forum.

I've checked on multiple devices.

Not a complaint on my part, just noting it in case someone searches for that, it might be useful.

Welcome to the forum!

Good luck in your search!

FYI - No "thanks" button on the intro. pages, but on regular topic pages.

Thank you.

Yeah, I figured out the intro section doesn't have a "thanks" button in the posts, but for whatever reason it doesn't seem to show up in all the other sections.
