Starting at 10:00 AM and driving for 5+ hours... It'll be at least 6:00 PM and could be dark by the time we're heading back to Denver... Should the start time be moved to 8:00 or 9:00 AM? (NOTE - I'm not a morning person...)

No, 10 works for me. I hated having to get up early for the last one!
When I went with jbridgett to scout the estes park run, there was a lot less traffic on about half of the roads. Part of that reason is also because we didn't take a break for less than like 5 minutes until we hit Nederland.
We hit the heavy traffic after about 11am or noon when we went down through blackhawk.
I'm pretty sure I don't like to get up early any more than the rest of you do , I just think there's a pretty clear cut benefit to an early start.
Thanks to RAMMAN for the suggestion to lunch at the Woodland Park Sonic. I spoke with the manager, "Jorge" who confirmed that they can accommodate our number, do not have anything else scheduled, and will have a full compliment of staff.
