Well, I went out there to the driving range, rented a driver and a bucket full of *****. Came home with a bleeding thumb, a hurt shoulder and my ego bruised. The bleeding thumb came from me accidentally hitting the ground with the driver while swinging and having the skin on my thumb scrape on the rubber handle. OUCH!! I'll definitely bring gloves next time. Overall, I did ok for the first time out there. Got the ball past the 65 foot marker a few times, got a couple out over the 100 foot mark. At first, alot of them only went 5 or six feet, if at all. It was embarrassing because there was a 40+ year old asian lady hitting them over 150 ft consistently right next to me. This young asian kid came by later on and was setting those golf ***** into orbit!!! Damn!!! Barry was right! I think I was the only non asian guy there.
I definitely need to get swinging lessons though since it seems that I started doing better when I wasn't trying to hit the ball as hard as I could. I need to learn how to control my swing to make the best contact with the ball.
I hope you mean yards not feet. Each hole is around 350 yards which is 1050 feet. If you are hitting average of 100 feet then you are going to take 10+ hits just to get to the green.

I guess they were yards, the signs just had numbers on it, it didn't say what it was although I wouldn't be surprised if it was inches the way I was hitting.

Ummmm, are we still gonna play for money?
A bet is a bet, you don't want the whole forum seeing you back out do you? Keep practicing, just try to make good contact, once you start to hit the ball with some regularity then you car swing a little harder. It might turn out to be a long day . 14 days to go.

BTW, the asian lady was hitting them out pretty hard but she was using a putter. Another guy was using a putter also to hit the long shots. I was using a driver (the one with the fat half ball thing). Is one easier to use than the other?
Golf is not a contact sport, it's not supposed to make you bleed . I would stick with some mid irons to start, like a 5 or 6. Did you borrow a lefty set yet? And I think that Snoopy just might have better form than you .

I'll talk to Dion this week to see if he can bring down his clubs on Saturday when we meet up at Wicked's BBQ. Maybe next week, I can leave early from work and I can meet you someplace upstate and you can show me some pointers. I really want to win this and don't want to be the major reason why we would lose although it seems like I'll probably be the determining factor anyway. Too much pressure!!!

Hey isn't Dion like four times taller than you..... that being said you will need a ladder just to swing his clubs.
