Called the organizer of SCDA and he states that 4/30-5/01 is the date they have. Very good organization, like PDA, to run with and any one that wants to go with them give me a call and I will talk to the organizer to make sure you get in the correct run group.
Their format is almost the same as PDA, but if I remember correctly their sessions are a bit longer for some reason.
An enclosed trailer, or just a new fancier one? Certainly wouldn't want to haul an old trailer with a new truck.
I know. It is like dressing up in a new suit and putting on old shoes
I would say a different style. I like the current trailer and it really serves the function. It is solid steel and very stable, but I personally don't like climbing ramps to load the car.
I am going with a roll-back trailer which basically eliminates the need for ramps. It does cost more, but since I do about 10-15 trailer days per year it is worth the additional investment to me.

heh, trailers are cool.....just wait till I get a kegorator in mines fo shizzle..
With a full independent suspension, low center of gravity, almost perfect weight distribution and a huge engine, the vette is purpose built for a road course. Its in its natural environment in one. If you decide to come with us this spring/summer, I guarantee, you'll have a blast!!! You'll look at your vette in a whole new light.
I am definitly in. Can I have a passenger? I'll need them to hold the camera. do they rent helmets?
You can tell by all my elementry ?'s that I'm new at this. I don't want to say I've never done this before...that would give some alot to say

If this is your first time, you will be in the green group and will have to go around the track with an instructor. Don't worry though, it sounds like a bummer but the instructors will really teach you the limits of your vette, will teach you important techniques on how to hit your apexes and how to take turns faster and safer.
Helmets are available for rent. Once you sign up, you'll have to have your vette tech inspected so make sure your brakes are in good shape, tires have enough tread, engine is working properly with no check engine lights, codes, etc., and everything is working well since you will be pushing your vette to the limit on the track.

those lights mean nothing, every time I get the check engine light I just pop the hood, check to make sure the engine is still there and continue beatin the **** out of teh car....

I have 06 z51 6 spd with 10k miles. I will have the dealer check my brakes..probably do fresh oil and take a qt or two with me. I don't mind the instructor, that will be a good thing..How many laps ..cost..top speed reached.. BTW I am all stock, but still can't wait.
Anything else ?

you hear dat alex, a real man with THREE pedals fugger...
um.....take extra oil, brakes should be fine even if you drive like me, its more time on the track (ie 20 minute session) vs laps top speed? depends on teh track and your cojones.....obviously you'll build up as time goes on I really can't give you numbers on speed cuz I kinda have too much horsepower for it to carry over to your car.

I forgot to mention about the oil but you already guessed it. Usually, each session is about 30 minutes, you go around the track as many times as you can depending on your speed, the number of caution flags, etc.
As far as being all stock, that's perfectly fine. These events are not races, there's no time slips and you are not competing with anyone except your own skill level. You have a Z51 suspension so that should help on the track.
Here's a breakdown of the schedule and prices from the pda driving school website:
As of now, I'm probably going to sign up for Lime Rock in March and Watkins probably in July or Sept since the May event is too close to my wife's b-day and the cruise in is that same month as well (can't be away from home too long or the missus will get suspicious. )

passenger are ony allowed in the advance groups . cameras that are not securly attached to the car are not allowed. As a matter of fact all moveable objects need to be remoed from your car. This includes floor mats, cds, change, etc.
if you want to know more about hpde then go to www.ecsracing.com and look in the twisted racing section.

Minor wording changes.
Officially... These are not races. They are not timed. You are not competing with anyone. You are navigating the track as fast as you are able at the same time as others in your skill level.

Feb is one, but I am also looking to see if 4th of July weekend is available again this year.
July 4th weekend would be awesome!! I could take my wife with me and we could make it a 4 day weekend, maybe visit colonial williamsburg while we're down there.

Ok now im even more confused.. When is everyone doing to WGI?? We should all go at the same time like this year..setting up the ECS trailers together, have dinner and just BS at the track. That was was a blast!.
I think we should stick with PDA as everyone is familiar with them already. May 7-8

We should definitely all go together, its alot more fun that way. As for SCDA, they do things pretty much the same as PDA, I've gone to SCDA events in the past when I've run at pocono, the instructors are just as good and they are just as careful with Safety and rules as PDA.

Ike I cannot do May7th and 8th that is why it is not on the ECSRACING website.
I talked to Ian the owner of SCDA and he stated that the 2007 list is not 100% completed yet, but that he did already confirm April 30th and May1st for WGI.
That works out for me so that is what will be on the ecsracing website.
PDA and SCDA are both good safe organizations. I ran both last year and had fun at both and felt safe at both. I think for us as a group it is good to use other organizations because their classroom instructors have a different view of the track and different training methods.
another good reason is that we are not tied into one group which gives us more track dates and lets us be more flexible.
That being said I am going April 30th and May1st make sure you wave when you pass us going up there the next week
