Applying the thin blue line on the rear of the car is a lot different than putting it on the front plate area and not having a front plate on at all. If the cops want to use the blue line on their own cars, they shouldn't be so quick to ticket Corvettes without a front plate (and I know many do not issue tickets). They are just as guilty of defying the law, no matter what anyone says.

I appreciate professional courtesy...but not when it is against the law, no matter how small.

Honestly, I think cops pretty much leave Vietnam vets alone.

But I'm not 100% sure, you should make a thread and ask about it.

1 tag is all that is needed in Jersey...If you have fallen Law Enforcement Officer plates
I get pulled over all the time for no front plate but in the end I always receive the "Nice Plates and have a nice day"

Too bad GSDiva doesn't roll with US. Ask members of the Wolf Pack how many times their bacon was saved by some judicial application of professional courtesy.

Good point...I think the perk of being able to drive new Corvettes around southern New England to cruises and shows as an employee of a dealership is a perk not many share.

Hey, slow down...very rarely do I take any Corvette to a show or event other than my own or my husband's! I have in the past occasionally taken one of the Vettes in our shop, but I'm very competitive about showing my own Corvette in judged shows all over New England so I prefer driving my own.

Maybe she has learned not to mess with God, the government or the local police.

All I know is that the question - a fair one, at that - seemed to provoke a remarkable outburst of sharp elbows, so to speak.

Some of us are tired of getting the elbows, so every now and again, an elbow gets thrown back. Oh. and I say this every time: I let more civilians go than I ever did cops.

I got pulled over a couple years ago in Dracut for no plate. Got a written warning and told the next time would cost me $100. I put the second plate on that night

What pissed me off was looking around at other cars and 1/2 of them don't use the front plate but I got pulled out of a line of cars because I was in my Vette???

My brother-in-law is a Lowell cop. I'll see if he knows anything or can get these stickers!!

Ok, so he was issued a ticket for no front plate because he didn’t have the plate properly affixed to the front of the car even though he knew he should have. That seems fair enough.
He was stopped the next day for the same thing by the same Police Officer and issued another summons because even though he knew that he was supposed to have the plate properly affixed and was issued a ticket for it the previous day he still didn’t have it properly affixed. That seems pretty fair to me too.
Now the issue of professional courtesy:
Almost every profession that can practice it does.
Why should Police Officer’s be any different?
Were you upset when you bought your Corvette that someone that was employed at the Dealership could have gotten it for less money because they work there?
Would you go in to a major appliance store and complain because you don’t get the same discount as their employees do.
When you go to the Doctor or Dentist do you complain that they don’t give you the same treatment or discount they give to other Doctor’s, Dentists, or their families?
Police Officers have the option to use discretion when it comes to traffic offenses much like folks in other professions have the option to use discretion in pricing or level of service for the things they provide.
I’m willing to bet that as a civilian you have a better chance of being the recipient of a discretionary pass from a Police Officer for a traffic offense then you do of getting a true employee discount or preferred level of service the next time you buy a car, appliance, or visit your Doctor or Dentist.
Life's too short to sweat the small stuff.
Happy Holidays and have a great day!
