Default NJ Inspection FTW

Had to get 1 of my DD's and the vette inspected today since they are a month over due but I was holding back due to the many violations with them both.

I tested the waters with the Rodeo first (5%) tint, rode in and all they did was hook it up to the Emission testing computer. 2 mins later..out with a 2015 sticker and I didnt ask any questions.

Next was the vette with no front plate, 5% tint, laser jammer and a long list of other items. Rolled up and asked what they would be testing for and the kid said Emissions only. I said cool deal..go at it and I was out in 2 mins with another 2015 sticker.

God I love NJ Inspections now-a-days

My 2007 had 9/06 new car sticker good until 9/10. (4 yrs) In August, I rec'd in the mail a 1 year extention sticker to be placed right above the original sticker. I guess they have gone to five years.

While tint may no longer be an inspection issue the NJSP will still get you for it, it's just a matter of time. What's up John, how's things?

August 1st, our great new Governor, Chris Christie, changed the NJ DMV inspection process. NJ will no longer do any vehicle inspection, beyond emissions.

I don't know how you ended up with a 5 year sticker though. New car inspections will be for 5 years now, instead of the previous four. Owners of vehicles with time left on their new car stickers, will receive an extension sticker to place on their windshield. Once the new car inspection expires, cars are required to have an emission only inspection every two years.

If your car fails the emission test, they can do a full vehicle inspection, otherwise all that is tested is emissions.

I received an extension sticker for my 07 Silverado last week. My daughter took her Z24 for inspection in August for the emission only test and received a sticker for inspection in two years, due back 8-12. If they gave you a 5 year inspection, it sounds like you got lucky. It might be a good day to buy a lottery ticket!

NJ's getting to be a better place to live.

Actually the vette didnt get the sniffer ..just the Rodeo...go figure
There is no rhyme or reason to their methods but at least they both passed.

what year is the rodeo? I think 96 was the first year of obdii if I recall. So if your rodeo is older than that then it makes sense that they used the sniffer.

does that rodeo run like a champ? A guy I know has one with like 300K miles on it....keeps on ticking.

That's just peachy.

In a few years there will be cars driving around with no brake lights, no blinkers, and faulty brakes. The accidents will cause Nj car insurance to retain there standing as the highest in the country [in the most congested state in the country].

If he wants to save some money, do away with the front plate.

I am just wondering why JPM got one car sniffed and not the other? Is it protocol to sniff each car or did the one inspector just get lazy?
