Finished the Competition seat conversion. Not an easy install.. removing the seats from the car is stressful and they're like 60 lbs each. Other than that it's straight forward. I used a heatgun to carefully heat up the leather/vinyl to minimize wrinkles during the install.

Nice Job, the seats look GREAT! Per our previous PM discussions, how many clips did you have and/or did you have to source the clips?

Thanks, they feel a lot tighter than stock though and I’m not a big guy. I had 2 clips per side. There should really be 3 clips side total since the seatback shell has “openings” for 3 clips per outer bolster. After seeing how secure the mounding on the edges tuck into the seatback shell ridge, I didn’t have a need to source the extra clips.

Did you have any problems with the carbon fiber trim separating from the seat? Once clipped in (requires a lot of force) there seems to be a lot of tension from the cushions. I few people have had issues where the trim piece comes undone, either the metal clips separate or worse yet, the plastic tabs break off from the shell.

They are tighter as they should be because they are track seats intended to keep you from swaying in the seat during spirited driving which I love as stock seats with speed on a curve you feel your body shifts. As far as the seat head bezel, I think people think they have it secured with all the clips but it only appears that way.

It is very difficult to get the bezels to snap into place and if part of the leather is overlapping the clip then you are not fully snapped in. I have not had the bezel snap out nor have the 3-4 people I know had that problem.

Again, I think it is not fully snapped in and as it is a bear to do after you have tucked the seat backs and not they are stretched tight. You may have to use heat gun carefully to soften the leather and then try to snap bezel in and in my case I think snapping the bezel in was the hardest step and might work better with a second set of hand.

That said, your seats look great and glad you got it done!

PS: Add lessons learned and helpful hints to the Competition Seat Thread if there's something that might not already be there.

Swapped in Z51 Bilstein shocks. Huge improvement in handling with the new shocks and swaysbars.

TOP (45mm Z51), BOTTOM (35mm base)

Not Corvette related, but I'm fairly proud of the work I did replacing the soft top on my friends S2000. It took 12 hours and it came out perfect. Robins Top makes a very good kit.

You dont have this problem. But I NEED to get rid or this steering wheel and get a nicer one. If only they weren't like 1500. Plus my backyard is swelling my account right now for the last 6 months. Haha.

but this cobalt and Malibu steering wheel is stupid!

The OEM Centennial steering wheels looks pretty good and priced very well:

your right... but the major issue I have with it is the stupid rubber center airbag centerpiece. lol...my 3LT is all leather on the wheel I actually like the wheel. id like a D or flat bottom maybe.. but if I had my wheel with the stupid silver trim gone and a leather center id be perfectly happy.

I have a c5, not a c7, but still I wanted to say thanks for helping the corvette community! That's awesome.
