if your in an auto C5, given equal drivers and track conditions.. your NOT going to catch a new 5.0 Mustang, they are anywhere from 3/4 to 1 sec quicker in the 1/4.. (stock to stock)..

comparing a FE1 auto C5 to a 5.0 Mustang or any new Supercharged Mustang, that might not be a bad comparison.. I know, I've had both and honestly I like my Mustang better..

Think about that - a 13 year old design that is just now being beaten by a Mustang. There is no shame at all for the C5. Of course, you can buy a $17,000 C5, throw a $5,000 Vortech S/C on it and end up with about 500 RWHP or 580 crank HP. The mustang guys have been using similar formulas for years. Now it's our turn - a $22,000 car that destroys a new GT or 911, or M3, etc, etc.

hmmmm, yes it's a 13 year old design, but that same design was produced up till 2004, which is only 6 years ago.. also, my 6 year old Mustang could stock vs stock put a hurting on most C5's and was pretty even with the Uber C5's (the Z06) a grand in mods, and bye bye to even the Z06..

Judging by the years you are mentioning, you must be referring to the Terminator, since no GT until now could keep up or beat a C5 stock for stock.

From what I've seen at the track, most of the 03-04 Cobras run high 12s. Fastest terminator I've seen ran an 11.61, probably has a pulley upgrade and tuning. Stock C5s turn mid 13s. C5 Z06s run mid 12s with a practiced driver. That has been my experience. I've seen one 5.0 at my track, turned low 13s but that doesn't mean anything as the driver probably couldn't launch the thing. The times quoted by the magazines (I've seen 12.7) were accomplished on cars which had the 3.73 axle. The 5.0 is pretty stout right out of the box.
