I really, really hope the widebody models look better.

I think the widebody will help the C8 quite a bit.

Looks like not everything's pixie dust and unicorn farts with Tesla.

It'll be easy to do like in Japan I believe, you can’t use the full power until on a racetrack. Though the electric cars can’t stay out for very long, so my assumption is ICE will be regulated to “off-road” use only and you will pay for this enjoyment.

Just road in Tesla on the new Vegas Loop and it didn’t even use auto pilot? Seems like a promotion of energy waste and obesity.

That "187 miles on 15 minute charge" really should have an asterisk by it... I'm am sure that requires one of Telsa's super chargers... which you just don't find at every highway gas station or truck stop.
More importantly, you don't find them at your local track !!

So? If you had something newer that showed an advancement, you would have linked it.

Ed Paez used to rent TWS and have two(2) 4 hour open sessions per day.

I got 72 minutes on a single tank of gasoline in my F355B in a single stink in 103º Texas summertime temperatures.

I had forgotten about the big puddle in tun 13 at TWS and on my first lap out dumped at least 10 gallon of water in the passenger seat.
Luckily, I was the first car there and it was relatively clean water and dried fairly quickly.

- Quarter-mile in 9.23 seconds, acceleration that "really hits you in the limbic system." He asked, he said, "How can I make a spaceship a car."
- 200-mile top speed.
- 1,020 peak horsepower.
- A coefficient of drag of 0.208, which, he said was a "true 0.208" measured with the car in motion and wheels turning, rather than in wind tunnel.

Not suggesting that because of these numbers it is a replacement for what will be a slower Z06 corvette(Until you have to turn), just showing the state of play. I figure all the "roll racers" that insist the Z06 be boosted will be yelling "take my money" to get Tesla's latest sewing machine......
Have to love the haters who are too blind to see the writing on the wall. I own a C8 Z51 and a C7Z with 2650 Maggi at 850hp. Neither of those cars are as fast as a Tesla Plaid, whether it be quicker to 60mph, 1/4 mile, or even now on the track. Tesla just offered me $90K trade for my C8 with 2400 miles on it. That is as much as I paid for it plus tax. I will keep my C7Z and sell it when the hybrid C8 comes out someday. For my daily driver...that drives itself too. I will use my new Tesla Plaid when I get it later this month. I sold my Tesla P3 and it is the only car I ever missed.

For comparison sake, you could send your C8 to get twin turbos and DCT clutch upgrades and at 1045hp it still won't turn a quicker 1/4 on DRs then the Tesla Plaid...which holds 3 more passengers too. Sorry I love all of my sports cars, but the day has come where ICE is melting away into past. Hopefully there will be a Corvette someday with as good as performance specs...the Tesla even has a drag coefficient of like .20....when has the last time a Vette has been low....C5 Coupe .29?

So it's interesting you say that about off road only. I work in transportation engineering...first for highway design and construction, now in rail. All though we have new Tier IV Diesel Locos making over 5000 hp that will do 125mph (conventional rail), the new hybrid diesels (battery tender and soon hydrogen) are putting out over 8000hp. Anyway to your point, I was talking to a PHD from Berkley in transportation and air quality about 4 years ago and he tells me by 2030 it will gas cars will be regulated to off road use. He said with electric and autonomous vehicles the safety factor will go up to the point that from an insurance perspective, driving gas cars will be ruled unsafe for the highway system and therefore relegated to off road use. I told him I didn't think by 2030, but it certainly seems there push for it in order to end ICEs in the next 10-15 years.

It's different up until 2018 (Dec) Tesla was allowed as a new start up to qualify it's buyers for large federal tax breaks. After so many vehicle sales the and certain profit threshold was met, the federal rebates went away. I know this because I purchased a Tesla Model 3 Performance on Dec 29, 2018. I was able to claim the max on my taxes which was $9K from the feds, $3k from the Ca, $850 from PG&E, so damn near $13K in tax break and credit from buying a car. Basically paid $72K and got over $12K back.

California still offers a clean air rebate, just not what it was a few years ago and federal credit has expired.

It’s coming no doubt, the definition of the word safe I’m afraid will be the thing that causes the extinction of the ICE and the joy of driving. Do you really feel satisfied after driving the Tesla?

I think what will be regulated is how much power can be expended in a certain time down to the second.
