Absolutely!!!! Do you know how many forum users are going to attempt their own paint and body work now? Also it helps us ALL understand or at least helps us try to understand how our cars were put together, prep'd and painted.

I appreciate this section.

Thank god this is here...I've got more info on here in one week then I did in five years...you sure GM won't get mad?

This section really should be on the community board for each series of corvette, so we can go imediatly to it. I have this site on my favs just to get to it...not to mention it is my fav.

also I was wondering...is there some way to "split" the parts section? theres enough of motor parts to start a whole board, and sifting through all of it is a pain. could a section be made called "Running Gear Parts"? that would cover motor and trans, and the related?

I don't see a post to this for awhile now....are people still coming here for paint Q&A's. I have 30+ years of experience with paint, bodywork, composite repair (both epoxy & polyester resins) on motorcycles, aircraft, cars, Corvettes (well there is a difference), and anything that doesn't move before I can paint it. I am old school trained, but I have up to date info also. I have 2 sons that I can pull knowledge from as well. PM me if you wish, Tank

Guys,

I have two paint projects to do. I plan to begin with a 85 C10 pick to cut my teeth on, then an 87 Corvette that has been apart for almost ten years. But like everything else I have alot of other things going on.

Sounds like a good plan Bob.
You'll find lots of good info given here.

I also recommend the Body - Exterior forum on http://www.hotrodders.com

I do have a question for you pro painters?

I have a gravity fed gun that has the baggies inside. Do you guys use these or do you use the metal canisters and wash them out?

Bob,

If I were you, I'd re-post this as a new topic. I think people won't see your question here on this "Testing new section" sticky.

Great Idea!

I'm currently working on painting my 1980. Corvette specific information related to paint process/technique differences among the various materials would be useful (Fiberglas, SMC, Urethane).

thanks!
