How much Paint
I have a old Binks model 7 I've used before (back in the day), or would I be better off buying a new HVLP gun.
Thanks
If you use a HVLP, you will use less material. I personally get 3 qts. and that gives me some extra most of the time.

That pretty much sums it up in a "nutshell". I can paint then with two quarts (raw)..because my paint system has really good toners...but that is also depending on the color...and if it is loaded with pearls and weak transparent toners. Three quarts would definately work for me and have some for future repairs. BUT it all depends on what paint you buy and how well it covers.
As for the Binks 7. Buy some small amount of the paint that you are going to use and TEST it out and see if you can dial it in and make it work for you. An HVLP would allow you to save more paint and get better paint transfer..than the Binks. So it may be ...buy more paint and not a gun...or a new gun and not so much paint. But regardless which way you go...make sure that you test out what you are wanting to do so you do not have any surprises and not end up with the job that you want. Paint stores should have an "color evaluation card". Which has white and black checkers on it and it allows you to paint on it and see how many coats of base will make the checkers disappear. I do this on all colors that I have not encountrered before, so I know I am getting complete hiding.
