More information for you here than what you are asking for. But seeing how you stated that you are a "newbie". I thought I would mention it so you get the total picture at what may occur.

Yes they can be repaired....but it is all depending on the extent of the damage. Most bumper repairs require removing the bumper cover so material can be applied on the back side to give the split or crack strength....versus just filling over it on the topside. There are companies that offer reconditioned bumpers...or get a new one....or get someones old bumper. But just be aware that you may be getting someone else's problem...which is why they are selling you their old one. Unless you go and get the bumper in person...having it truck freighted in is going to cost you some $$$. Photo's of your damage would have been nice...to better direct you in the best cost effective repair.

If you plan on changing out the bumper to either a new or reconditioned/used one.....and NOT repairing what you already have now. Just be aware that painting the bumper by itself ( either on or off the car) and not blending into your hood, headlight doors and fenders will more than likely make it to where the color WILL NOT match exactly. Irregardless of the color of your car. Some colors are worse than others...but not blending into adjacent panels will more than likely cause a color difference...due to age, formula mix and other issues.

Don't think that the paint formula is exact to what you have now... because their are many paint formula "variants" for some colors. And thinking that using the machine that can "read" the color and provide a formula is your saving grace...THINK AGAIN...Those machines are only good for providing a paint formula for BLENDING...and NOT butt-matching a color. MAYBE...and I mean MAYBE...you may get lucky and get it perfect the first time out....BUT doing this for years and years...it is a 1 in a 100 shot. But this is coming from someone who has an excellent eye for color and knows what to look for when painting/matching a color to existing paint.

Yea thanks.. That helped out a lot seems like I have been looking and can only find oithers bumpers that are all messed up, and I have no problem dropping it off and having someone blend but I can't see spending 1200 on a new one.. Do you happen to kno the name of places that recondition them??

Yes I do...BUT...By the time you pay for the freight to get a reconditioned one to you...you can go buy a new from from GM. Front bumpers do not cost $1200.

I checked gmpartsdirect.com. They have MSRP at $564.56 and their price is $346.41 (but they overcharge on shipping). In any case, nowhere close to $1200.

69Nova,
If possible...post a photo('s) of your front license plate area damage. Repairing what you have now may be the best way to achieve a low cost repair.

Avoiding any blending into your other front end panels (headlight doors, fenders and hood) will really keep the cost down. That is if you are concerned about color match.

Also what color is your car...if you are not able to post photo's?

Sorry I'm a newbie
We would be glad to supply the correct part number to order, please PM or email us (at customerservice@GmPartsDirect.com) and we will supply the correct part number to order.

We (GmPartsDirect.com) sells parts near published dealer cost plus a percentage for a shipping and handling fee. This fee is not actual shipping charges only.

Keep in mind our overall price is a tremendous savings over retail price and in most cases is even cheaper than dealer wholesale shipped to your door step, and without leaving the convenience of the Mouse. Compare the overall price delivered to your door.

If you find a lower delivered price at one of our competitors, please email us a screen shot and link of their delivered price and we will try to meet/beat their delivered price.

The shipping and handling pays for the shipping charges plus our other expenses like web programming, employees, etc. Another way to explain this is, we are selling you the part near published dealer cost, the shipping, and handling pays all of our expenses associated with running the web site. The amount left over after our expense is our profit. Unlike some of our competitors that hide the handling charges in the cost of the part and you do not know how much they are charging you for the handling of the item, we supply the information upfront and do not hide any of our charges.

If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know and I will be glad to assist.

Thank you,

Scott T.

Professional advice. Regardless of the lengths you have to go through. The LAST THING you want to do is cut a hole through your front metal impact bar that is welded to the ends of your frame. This big square box channel steel reinforcement is critical in providing good front end collision resistance. IF you hack a large hole through it....via a hole saw....it will severely weaken this TESTED structure of the frame. For whatever that is worth to you.
