I'm doing my first two tone (base coat/clear coat) on a motorcycle fender for a friend in a couple of days. How long should the first color be left alone before applying masking tape for the second color? And... will the first color still be in "the window" to clear after the second color is applied? I'm spraying NAPA's base/clear that I've used a lot of in the past. It's produced by Martin Senour. Thanks in advance for any advice. Jason
This question can not be answered DEFINITIVELY....because....the choice of reducer for your basecoat....how you apply it...how you set up you paint gun...the tip size on your paint gun and the time allowed to flash between coats.
You HAVE TO SHOOT A TEST PANEL on something else FIRST. I could tell you exactly how to do this if you were shooting the paint that I shoot....but...it all depends on how the MS paint can imprint.
CALL NAPA paint tech and ask them. They will know....but I usually test it first.
