I assume the headlight support beam is out???

Are you referring to the metal reinforcement at the VERY FRONT of your top hood surround area where there are rivets also holding it in place???

It APPEARS that the WEST SYSTEMS Six10 can be used and I tried to read about it but it did not answer a specific concern I have....or at least did not see it when I looked and read about it and that is IF...and this is IMPORTANT....IF the WEST SYSTEMS six10 can be applied on bare steel or if the steel MUST be primed with a specific type of primer first. This is so important because if it does not bond to the steel...it will let go.

AS I have written before....it is that 1/1,000,000th of an inch of crap that can get on a surface that can completely ruin any adhesion. If a person does not believe me...well...try walking into a paint and body shop with an aerosol can of WD-40 or silicone and see what happens. TRUST ME...that would have been a HUGE mistake on that person part doing that...because I am quite sure that they did not enter their dentist and proctologist phone numbers in their phone.

You need to contact WEST SYSTEMS directly and ask them...unless you can find it in the information out there about it form them.

I use SEM and LORD FUSOR...but there is NOTHING wrong with WEST SYSTEMS either...juts make sure it is the correct stuff.

thanks,
so with lord fusor or sem does it matter with or without primer. I will use any product that is right I just happen to read something about the West systems stuff. I can sand and use the bar bare then prime or I can prime it first. I have a gallon of SPI Turbo that I haven't opened. I can buy something else if it is better.

YES...that is why you need to contact them so you know...only because I am at home and do not know the numbers for the products right off the top of my head. Some of these 2 part adhesives...when used on bare steel...the bare steel MUST be completely covered.

And using the SPI product....you have to make sure that that is OK also due to amount of BUILD on the steel when you shoot it on it. OR its chemical composition ...which you may possibly need to make sure that it is an approved epoxy for there product to chemically bond to.

This is just a small 'taste' of what I deal with from time to time to make sure what I use will bond. I can be on the phone for some time to make sure ALL is good...because as like you...I CAN NOT do this twice.

i called west systems regarding their 610 epoxy. they recommend that their product works best with bare metal. so I should sand off the paint and bond it on and then paint over it.

It all depends if you are planning on using the wide fiberglass bonding strip that was riveted to the beam.

AS when we talked...taking out that fiberglass bonding strip can effect the way the headlight fit unless you have clamped the beam in place and test fitted the headlight housings.

If West Systems said to have bare steel...then do as they say and all I know is that I would make sure I cover all bare steel where you apply the epoxy...needless to 'say'.

BUT...on the outside of the beam..I would already have it painted....BUT if I were bonding the fiberglass bonding strip to the metal beam FIRST...then I would paint it afterwards so when I go to bond the beam and bonding strip assembly in place...it has already been painted.

It depends on what you want to do and the color of their adhesive and if it is a concern or not. So a simple question can have several possibilities and it depends on what you plan on doing...which I do not know how you plan on doing this.

AND if West Systems said that the same epoxy is good for fiberglass to fiberglass bonding...then you are good to go on using it....which depends if you plan on using the fiberglass bonding strip or not.
