Default C5 Bodywork
I have a 1 1/2" long x 1" wide gouge in my driver door on the edge. Car is AE Red Metallic. Would it be better to replace the whole door or just patch and blend?

I would fix it and not think twice about it. That damage ( in my opinion) is so minor that it does not warrant another door.
