The hood frame fiberglass on my 55 where the hinge attaches has cracked and is weakening (both sides). What is the best method of repairing this area? Note the shims are used to lower hood in the front when closed.
I know of three different way to do this just right of the top of my head.
How involved do you want to get into this???
Are you trying to make it so the repair will not be able to be detected if you are being judged??? Which I doubt if you have alignment shims there...but I am still going to ask.
There is no doubt that this can be repaired...just need to know so I do not waste my time typing out something and find out that you are looking for a simple fix....because this is not going to be simple...but it is do-able.
I am not going to have the car judged, but, of course, I would like it to be presentable.
I am looking for a repair that will last, as I had repaired this previously. I looked at the other side today and it is in even worse shape.
Thanks again.
Now I can type this all out or we can talk on the phone and cover more information faster....the choice is yours. let me know.
I need to know if you are concerned about the condition of the paint on the exterior of the hood before we start this. Reason is that one of the procedures requires using heat and if it causes for the exterior paint on the hood to get kinda weird...is that going to freak you out.

The paint may be a problem. I didn't want to go down that rabbit hole if I can avoid it. Lets talk tomorrow by phone. What time is best for you?
