Bright silver paint code?
Im in the process of deciding what colour I'll be painting my corvette.
It's a 79 C3, the original paint is Silver.
I've been thinking about the new mazda mx5 red( similar to the renault megane red, dont know if they sell them in the USA?).
Anyway, I've also been thinking about silver, as its the original colour and you see a lot of red corvettes.
I'm looking for the paint code for a very very light/bright silver. The closer to chrome the better. ( Yes, I'd paint it chrome if it was legal here over the pond).
I found some pictures of C3's with a nice silver, is this the original silver?
Mine has been repainted before so I'm not sure if it's the original silver.

This kind of silver is what I like :

This is mine, and a link to my buildthread.

The second photo of the pick up truck looks like it has a LOT of pearl in that color.

I've asked my usual supplier for some colour charts. I've been wondering about a coarse base silver. Have you tried adding pearls to silver before?
I've a bit of experience with paints, but have never made my own colours. ( The craziest 've done is painting a royal blue candy, what a royal pita that was. But the result was great imho).
Got an example of >GM16?
So if the paint has a medium coarse silver metallic in it. A person can use something like super bright fine aluminum metallic and change how the color looks.
I have painted cars that were strictly the silver metallic and no other toners/pigments added to it.
On many cars I will leave out half of the silver metallic and put in the silver white pearl to give the color some radiance....but it still has some metallic effect to it.
I hate that there is not one company in your area.
How do the paint and body shops that fix cars get the paint they need??? I would think that they has to be at least one shop that has a mixing service where they can mix there own paint in the shop and not have to order it.
I have the color decks at my shop and I will give you numerous colors to look at. Especially if you are looking for the really bright shiny silvers.

I have shot about a half a dozen or so of the 55-57's and there is a lot of surface area on those cars. So getting the metallics and or candy applied evenly can be a challenge. Much like 62 Cadillac I painted with the quarter panels that seemed a mile long.

You'll laugh, but there aren't really any real body shops over here... We don't have a real car scene like you guys have, rat rods for example are forbidden..
Can't even legally fit a supercharger on a vette

The shops have a very limited amount of colours aviable, basicly only a few standard car coloursL They might be able to use their machines to get me a paint I want, but they lack either the skill or the motivation to help me out. One of the reasons I'd love to emmigrate to the USA..

i grew up painting the rail cars of the 60's . i am pretty much done now. i'm pulling back to just my vette work . hell i'm 67 so it's time to start slowing down .

Let me call a good friend who ships stuff and see if they are permitted to ship paint overseas. My only fear is Customs on your end and what they would think about it.
I hate that you are put into this situation due to lack of peoples motivation to help you out...or the ease of being able to find the paint you want.
